    ESC Problem

My ESC keeps saying my battery is at the minimum recomended discharge voltage when i just plugged a newly charged one. It's a 3s pack and I have low voltage detection on. I plug the battery in and its fine, then the second I touch the throttle the light blinks slow red indicating low voltage and i have 50 percent throttle. It could be the battery but it is brand new and it charges up fine.
    Any recomendations?

Sounds like an ESC problem. You might unplug the servo from the receiver to see if that makes a difference.
If not: I'd call give Traxxas a call.

how does unpluging the servo from the receiver help the esc?

If the servo is broken it might cause stress to the ESC, which is feeding it via the receiver.

You could turn off the LVC and pick up a low voltage alarm (LVA) they are very inexpensive and seem to work pretty well.

Maybe the servo is not working great anymore. You could check if there is something wrong with the gears. A rebuild gear kit for the servo (if that is the problem) is pretty cheap. If it's the motor, then it is a different story. The ESC should be able to feed the stock servo without problems.

Dad's suggestion is a good workaround IMO.

The servo is fine nothing is wrong with that. it is low voltage detection in the esc that is causing problems. could i trust the low voltage alarms or should i try to fix or replace the esc

There are rather cheap Lipo buzzers that work well. Like I said: a good suggestion.

Ive found the problem. The first time that i saw the low voltage indicator was after a full run but it had never happened before and the battery was really dipping into low voltage. The next day I recharged it and plugged it back in. I was driving it to my front door to go outside and the indicator came on again. I stopped and alittle later i drove it around my living room to see if the indicator would come on and ofcourse it did. I took it to the hobby shop and after ruling out the battery we took it outside and discovered when i was driving around as slow as it would go the light would come on, but when i did some speed passes there wasnt a light. The esc was telling me the battery had low voltage because at the slow speeds it was drawing low voltage from the battery. when i went faster, it didnt tell me low voltage because the esc was drawing the normal voltage. Isnt that the best solution ever? drive fast

the esc must have a malfunction, some brushless escs come with problem or you may have caused it by: water ( if not waterproof ), overheating, too much or too little power output.

try a nickle battery, with the lvd off, and see if that works

Its a Venom and it works fine with the nickel metal battery.
So far it works fine driving it at all speeds but very slow. Its fine when it stops though

Does your venom battery have the snap on Traxxas connector? If it does, solder on a real Traxxas connector and it will probably stop. I had the same issue with a venom lipo until I had a real connector put on.

Yeah it does have a snap on traxxas adaptor. Ill have a real traxxas connector soddered on and as for the motor How would I check if that could be the problem?

I would start with the connector first. If it works fine and doesn't happen on a nimh battery, your motor is probably fine.

The venom snap on connectors create a lot of resistance. Once you get a real trx connector on it you probably won't have that issue anymore.
