Is it OK to run 2 x 3S LiPo in parallel using stock gearing or do I have to change? For 1:16 E Revo VXL

by stock, do you mean the 28 tooth, or the 23 tooth speed pinion?
you need to gear to whatever your oeprating temperatures are... there is no magic number
3s is marginal on the stock system, and should be closey monitored, with care
i wouldn't run 3s on the stock system with any pinion larger than a 19 tooth.....
Love how Noobs ask a ?, then say you're wrong
first buy a temp gauge if you don't have one and 3 cell on a stock merv is best for limited speed runs not extended runs.if you gear down below 20/50 on a 3 cell battery you would have the same top end with 2 cell and 28/50 gearing
thanks jimbo... well better late than never i suppose. this is my girlfriends car. she added the 3s packs in parallel but ran on the 28 tooth pinion. it overheated and shut down. I was having too much fun running my new 1:10 Slash to even think about it until it shut down. I hope it didn't damage anything; hers is also a new car. So I/we are both new to this. You say even the 23 tooth pinion is still too large? I am getting the telemetry with temp sensor asap. thanks for the help
which temp gauge do you recommend? or is the dock and the temp sensor a good way to go?
I have one from Harbor Freight... cost about $10-15.
Works just fine.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.
thanks guys for the help.
Mine from harbor frieght was like 25$

with 3s i did the 23T a long time )with stock motor and esc
and it still works and its in a box now
but still give the merv a rest after running a pack and did check temps now and then
i can be done on 3s but you gotta check it and take care of the heat
