You have to go to a darker color than your original color. And depending on the original color, it'll affect the end result. Kind of like spraying candy color where the base affects the final color. That's why black is the preferred color.

Ok I ran into a small problem when putting it all back together, it is just not aligned right, is this normal? The steering belcrank thing is in line, but the steering knuckles are way off. Any tips?

    I had the same thing.
    Do you have rpm arms?
If you have rpm arms tight the upper pivot ball 4 turns after all the thread is threaded in. 5 times for the lower one after the thread is all in

Camber is either + or - toe is either in or out. Looks like he has rear toe in and a little toe out on the front. That is how I have my MERV set up.

Front toe out and rear toe in is the way to go, but on the last picture I would swear that the rear also has toe out. It seems like the rear pivot balls can be tightened a bit further to solve that.

    Lol. Glad we agree.

@Ghostbuster: time to get the wrench and screw them into the arms a bit further.

You gotta use hobby grade double stick tape (not 3m from department store) or industrial velcro. Make sure to clean the surfaces also with alcohol or similar. Looks great!

I made a L plate that slides into the slots so I have 2 surfaces to stick the esc to.

Completely depends on the brand. I have had bad "hobby level" and good "store bought". Not sure about the 3m brand but Kmart sells some really good tape.

What I did is make a little plate with the same shape as the bottom plate of the VXL-3m. I put that into it's place with piece of doublesided Velcro (the type where you bind up cables with) and used that to hold the MMP in place.

Alright guys I took it out early and ran it about 5 min to break in the diffs. Last time I took it out I noticed a lot of sag in the
rear end. So I ordered some black rate springs... Today the rear end was still saggy...

    Just sitting...

Add a little pressure... and it stays...

    And the wire problem...

    Another pic...

    Driver side rear wheel.. idk

Here is the baseball/soccer park I run at...

The rear wheels where also not flat on the ground so I adjusted the rear toe and stuff by screwing in the arms more... It seemed to work, but the suspension still sags

You rear end has way too much negative camber. Either losen the higher pivot balls there or tighten the lower ones (or a bit of both).

That big machine looks nice next to its little brother

I think I fixed the rear end... kind of... It still sags a lot, any ideas? Thanks!! I'm waiting on some lipos to take the big guy out!

I think stronger springs are the most easy way to prevent the sagging. Since I got GPM springs, I never had that problem anymore.

I already put in the black springs... I think they are the strongest traxxas makes... so are the GPM ones stronger than the black?

Look for binding in the rockers or any place in the suspension. Black springs should carry the rear end higher than that.

Everything is smooth. Remember I do have a bigger motor than stock, it adds a little weight.

FWIW - The Traxxas Black springs are 2.22 (Traxxas 7143) and the Pinks are 2.77 (Traxxas 7244A)

Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but blue has a higher spring rate than black, and purple has a higher rate than blue. Purple is the highest rate from Traxxas for these little guys.

FWIW I'm running the blue with stock oil and it seems pretty good. Perfect sag and they aren't even tightened up all the way.

    Update:

I ran it again today... It is... AWESOME!!!!

I used 2s for about 10 min... pretty quick.. popped a few wheelies

Then I let it cool down for 3 min... wasn't really needed.. motor was warm.. not hot... esc didn't notice it..

Then I used 3s... it was quicker, faster... better. I did some wheelies, and about 4 speed passes. It worked amazing..
NO clicking sound! Wooohooo! Then I hit the gas to do a small wheelie it did about 1/2 of a standing back flip!
I bet if I really tried it could do a full standing backflip, if I ever become brave enough to try.

So my summary of my MERV is: IT IS AMAZING!

p.s. Don't be a smart bum and tell me that the captial letter means yelling.. and that it's rude. It is just easier to see, like
making something stand out from the rest of the letters to make your point across in an exciting manner. Thank you.
