nope lol I hate my life... so much work to do on this thing... and its a money pit... over $900 into it
If that's with an aluminum bulkhead you need loctite
Loctite for the big long screw? Do I need to order some shims?
If the bulkheads are aluminum yes loctite. Yep associated 21141 probably 2 sets. Some tamiya 53586 for the axles wont hurt either. Don't worry pretty inexpensive

Try a HR W4x shim on the small diff gear. Place it behind the first bearing facing the gear side. The Tamiya 53586, 50togo mentioned would work too in that place.
I found you need to shim the diff pinion gear with alloy bulkheads. Shim the ring gear too, as you would normally do, per Jimmmie's instructions.
On my gpm bulkheads the pinion rides perfectly on the ring gear a shim would throw it off.
so before shimming see how the pinion sits. And here is my thread that helps http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...-amp-pinion-in

I agree with cmd-j. I got my merv not long ago and no one one here believed it but the input gear in the bulkhead came with a shim.
I know it don't, and like I said no one ever believed me, but the merv was the first electric rc I've ever got and the first I've ever done any work what so ever on.. So when I stripped my front diff I come here and 50 and I was talkin along with a few others and they was walkin me through openin up my bulkhead to look at my diff. And I seen it then..
Since I bought it brand new I knew it come stock.. Everyone that was helping me said the same. It shouldn't be there but it was, and when I opened my rear bulkhead there was one on it..
Goes to show u no matter how long u been doing something and how much I think u knon,
U never know to much to learn something new, and 99% of people who claim to know all there is in a certain area don't.
But either way you have replaced the ring and pinion and I wouldn't shim the pinion.otherwise you will only be running on the tip.of the pinion
I didn't. Took your advice
For the record I never said your MERV did not have a shim in it although I do doubt it what I said was it is not in the exploded view and Traxxas does not list a part or have a part # for the shim you are talking about.

it looked metal maybe because it was dirty, and started out clear. i know for sure it was not a shield to the bearing because they are blue stock... and no my merv does not have a clicking noise.. if you read my post it states i have a grinding noise.. i know what a clicking noise is and what a stripped diff sounds like..
dadx there is no reason to attack me like that. i did not confront you or attack you in any way. and if you took that last post as that way then you took it wrong.. i never pointed you out, or anyone else, i was simply making a statement.
and from what you and the rules say "personal attacks" will not be tolerated by anyone or towards any one on this forum.
there was no need in you responding in that manner, when i was simply making a statement to everyone and not you by any means
Jhsmith1987 my post was no more an attack than yours was. I find it ironic you chose to quote the rules to me. I've been more than tolerant giving you this second chance to be a part of this community but your attitude is making me second guess that decision.
Now let's get back on topic, if you want to talk about this further take it to PM

ahhhhh man i feel this with you problems like this take away the fun
tell me you did shim your diffs ?????
Xtreme has no limiits
i think he ordered some . putting down bb power you need all the help you can get!
Mossie I have not shimmed them yet... hopefully no more diff problems after I shim them...
it will help to lower your brake power to below 40% -hard braking will take out a shimmed front diff! and find the sweet spot for setting your slipper clutch -not too loose or too tight but where it is still effective where it will help on the rear
Hey guys, I'm ordering shims today. Also, I got 2 ******** 1800 mah 3s batts, they both have xt60 plugs on them. Can I take to my LHS and have a guy put on some traxxas ones? Or will it mess up the batteries?
Please take note some brand names on lipos that come from the blocked website have been added to the language filter. Please do not mention these batteries or the website in the future.

Because he didn't get tips from us first!
My first t maxx I put aluminum everywhere then had to put a bb in there because it was heavy. Making it heavier. First good crash bent everything and it stayed bent! Rpm time

I bought because I wanted something that wasn't plastic lol... But later discovered that rpm plastic is ok...
Hey guys! How's it going?
I ordered some new parts...
New wheels, the traxxas white dish wheels, I'm gonna put the dirt hawgs on them. I was gonna get the HPI mesh wheels but I
thought the dirt hawgs are a little too narrow for those rims.
I also got some new rockers, and even a new chassis. I will be dying these with rit dye! So I can just have a spare chassis on hand if I ever need it lol.
I also bought a new complete front diff and bulkhead, just to have an extra since I have had sooooo many diff problems.
After I the MERV back together, hopefully I can run more that pack through it before something breaks..
The Traxxas rims work fine hpi would work a lot better and they are a little wide for the dirt hawgs but work fine you do plan on shimming right?
Haha yes I will definitely be shimming! I heard someone on here has an amazing thread about it... I think Jimmie Neutron?
You should also read my thread. I think I sent that to you. I have wasted brand new gears after shimming until I tried it. Here is Jimmies http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...-your-bulkhead and here is mine http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...-amp-pinion-in

Thanks a lot 50!!! You the man!!
Thanks. Its a pain I know and can get expensive. Never was designed for this kind of power, but nothing worse than having a new ring&pinion with a brand new aluminum bulkhead shimmed on the tight side go bad with one hard brake! Since I replaced the ring gear, broke it in and then reshimmed it -even with more power with the neu 1110 1/y it's holding up great
where do you find the RIT dye?
what vons, ralphs? lol im from the east coast
Any decent grocery store should have it
