    Thumbs down TQi Transmitter Problem

I have linked the iPod with TQi Transmitter, then I have been asked to update the firmware.
The transmitter lost link with the receiver! when turned on, red and green lights are on at the same time for few seconds! then green only for other few seconds then back to red and green then turns off!
    Any clue?

I had some issues with this to.
It took some tries to make it work.

First, make sure batteries in the TQi transmitter are well charged.
Also make sure batteries in truck are well charged.

Then, make sure ESC is turned off.
Turn off TQi transmitter, hold SET and turn transmitter on.
On Reciever hold set, then turn on ESC - Tx and Rx is now bind.

Wait for the update process to start, it took 2 attempts until I had luck..

Just tried it. Did not work. The transmitter does not recognize holding the SET. it keeps the same series of lighting (both red and green, then green, then off, then both red and green, then red ...).
It is only possible to hold both MENU and SET. the TX respond to that, is that useful?
I tried to reset the TX, but even that did not work.

You may have to clear the TX memory... But your best bet is to call traxxas during business hours.. They will walk you thru all steps and tell you if there is something deeper at play.

make sure the batteries are fully charged. If they are alkaline batteries, make sure they are fresh before proceeding. I sold a TQI and the guy called me with all sorts of issues. once he changed the batteries....problems solved

Now, why would he do that - I'm pretty sure he wants to use the Traxxas TQi

To my knowledge the 2.4 ghz is pretty proprietary. Only Spectrum with Spectrum and Traxxas with Traxxas.

This is what I would try:

Basically - you don't need an i-device to use the Traxxas TQi w dock
So let's get back to basic - start by unplugging your i-device.

First try this TQi reset procedure:
    1. Turn transmitter off.
    2. Hold both MENU and SET.
    3. Turn transmitter on.
    4. Release MENU and SET. The transmitter LED will blink red.
    5. Press SET to clear settings. The LED will turn solid green and the
    transmitter is restored to default.

    Then you'll need to re-program.

Now, I'm assuming you are running an EMBE, since you posted in this forum.
If not, this is NOT the procedure to follow..

And for safety, remove wheels - really - remove wheels!

Castle Creations Mamba Max speed control Programming Instructions

    1. Install the batteries of your choice in the battery compartments and
plug the batteries into the speed control.

    2. Switch on your transmitter.
    3. Hold full throttle while you switch on the Mamba Monster controller.

After a few seconds, you will hear multiple tones and the
    RED LED will light.

    4. Hold full brake. After a few seconds, you will hear multiple tones
and the YELLOW LED will light.

    5. Release the trigger to the neutral position. After a few seconds,
you will hear multiple tones and ALL THE LEDs will light.

    6. Wait a few more seconds for the speed control to ‘arm,’ indicated by
a double-tone. You are now ready to drive.

    Success ??

If yes - then now you're ready to plug your i-device in the dock.

Thank you Petraeus. In fact, the only response from the transmitter is when holding both MENU and SET together, then after releasing both the light blinks red, I pressed SET, the light turned off!
Turning it off and on again, same sequence of lighting starts as before!

Did you start with the transmitter turned off - as it should?

    1. Turn transmitter off.

    2. Hold both MENU and SET.

    3. Turn transmitter on.

    4. Release MENU and SET. The transmitter LED will blink red.

    5. Press SET to clear settings. The LED will turn solid green and the
    transmitter is restored to default.

Call traxxas customer support immediately when u have a problem!.. If you fiddle with the these controllers and receivers you may DEPROGRAM them. At which point they must be sent in.. This is especially important when setting up your receiver.. For example if you lose power to your while updating your firmware, you may reduce your receiver into a paperweight.... Save your self the hassle and call the toll free number

Btw.... I've had Spektrum telemetry for years and the traxxas telemetry with the iPod interface is the latest BEST out there hands down!! You may have a faster frame rate = response speed with a $300 futaba 3pk. You may have a more race oriented setup with the $250 Spektrum Dx3r but Traxxas with the iPod interface and with the future GPS expansion will have taken telemetry to a totally new level

The transmitter is good, I agree with you Usarush.
The only option I have is to send it for a replacement to Traxxas. But the shipping cost will be more than the cost of buying a new one! So, I will save some time and buy a new one.

This seems like a common problem with the controller. I have the same exact problem as Ayham. One point worth noting is that the car and controller were running great. Then all of a sudden the car went dead. It wouldn't respond to the controllers throttle or turns right and left. I thought it was the car until I noticed the light was both red and green on the controller. I have followed the steps outlined above and when performing step 5 the light completely shuts off. I'm calling Traxxas. This is unacceptable for a $600 investment.

My TQI died while linking to the DTS-1 starting console after linking perfectly to the Finish Line console. Have 6 volts going into transmitter from docking base. Traxxas tech said send it in but no address yet or packing procedure.????
