    1/16 e-revo motor thoughts? hobbywing 5200kv

hey guys new on here. built a 1/16 revo and looking at buying a hobbywing 5200kv 1/16-1/18 size combo. the motor looks way too small but being hobbywing i think it may be suprising. it will bolt straight onto the 370 motor mount also

Don't you mean 380 mount? If its a true 5200 and draws some amps it should make some power!

I hope not... the stock ESC is a 35a ESC and it is not rated high enough.

35a is atleast the lowest to buy i would'nt get those combo though. i have the 35a with 3900kv motor and it satisfied me very well, speed is plenty fast for me too.

I had got2go's 5200 with what looked like a 35a Esc it actually ran pretty fast. On 3's you couldn't keep the front end down

1/18th anything is not powerful enough for the 1/16th platform..... you need to be looking at 1/10th scale components or other 380 sized motors
Love how Noobs ask a ?, then say you're wrong

The HobbyWing 1/18 motors overheat on my Vendettas, I can't imagine trying to pull a Merv!

Hey it's got a 25a on it rated to 3cell. Got it off a mate for 50bux so thought id try it. Will get a 60amp esc for it later on once I fry this one don't really want to go to a 540 size motor cause of weight. Going to try 18/45 gearing. Got twin fans going over motor and esc to cool it down a bit. Only building on the cheap as a basher so I don't destroy my big revo between races every month.

25 amps is insanity. I was going to advocate the 35 with proper cooling, gearing, and running surface, but 25 amps is way low.

Are you totally positive on that Shimmie?

I always thought the Traxxas VXL 3m ESC were rated 35A?

Edit: silly me, i read the link myself, Traxxas rates the 3m ESC for 52A continuous and 326A peak..

The info I have was from before the 3M page even existed... someone did a bench test and posted results.

Been looking at the 60a esc's. Only 45bux delivered. There's not much room on the chassis to mount it tho.. Got the motor wired up tonite n it sounds pretty quick. Just need my pinion to hurry up and arrive so can try it out.

    $140ish for the ESC

    cripes !
So a more cost effective option, I'm thinking a Leopard 2845 4700kv (would that be a big increase on stock ?)
And a decent quality 60amp ESC from some other brand ?

Not sure how to follow forum rules when one post is full of brand names but I post one and it gets deleted.
    Oh well

If the brand name is blocked by the language filter (starred out), then that brand name cannot be used because the brand cannot be discussed on these forums.
