Do You Need to Change Axles with a 2400KV Set Up?

So was looking to avoid my increasingly occuring overheating issues (ESC mostly) while adding a little more speed/power and thought I would try out the Mamba Max Pro SCT ESC and Neu-Castle 1415-2400kv motor combo. Was planning on only running on 3's with some type of mild to moderate gearing. You guys think I would have to change out the axles to the MIP/Tekno products? or could I getr by safely with stock? all advice is appreciated. Thanks.

It is not mandatory, all depends on your driving conditions and style. Since you already has the stock ones beat them until they break.

It depends on your driving style if you can keep the stock ones in one piece. I would say, just try and see if they hold up. You can always get a MIP or Tekno set later on.

Edit: I didnt saw RCMan's posts when I posted mine. Lol.

i'm pretty easy on the trigger most of the time....if you have the slipper set correctly and run the stock sized wheels, you might be ok...however, i twisted all 4 of my driveshafts within a couple of packs when i went to the stampede sized tires.

With that power its very tempting (and fun!) to blast the throttle. You will eat your stock shafts and get tired of replacing. In the long run tekno or mip will pay for themselves IMHO

Wow - I could not agree with this more.

If you do twist axles, don't expect plastic hexes to hold up either. Alu hexes or 17mm adapters is what I'd go with.
I know they're having their break there by your brake drums. No, you're not invited.

I wrecked stock on 2s after 10 fairly tame runs - upgrade cos it will be gutting on the first run if you have to go home because you destroyed the stockers (which you will) before you've emptied one pack - you could wait and see but all I can do is wish you luck if you stick with stock - especially the rears

Go ahead and get the motor and esc combo and throw it in. If you twist the axles which will more then likely be the rears, then just upgrade the rears. It is harder to twist the fronts. The rears get more abuse so they twist easier. You upgrade the fronts later on down the road.

I was driving on the beach, 2400 4s, and i snapped both rear driveshatfs, but the fronts were alright. Maybe just put MIPs in the rear, and when the fronts go, put MIPs up front. With MIPs USE LOCTITE!!!!

yes, it all depends on your driving style.
For me, i broke all 3 FRONT stock shafts on one side (available when I replaced them on my stampede and slash 4x4 with MIPs) while waiting for my replacement on the axle They broke like chicken feet.

After going with alum hexs as it is, I absolutly love them. They are fantastic, and I wont go back to plastic. But great point here.

Yes, have the max pro on my 4x4 pede with the mip's, that was a manditory upgrade for me. Have the mip's in my slash with the 2200kv motor....very nasty.
