    My 6400 mah 3s . Only 3500 mah charge. Is it 2parallel.

My new 3s 6400mah only charges 3500 mah, my onyx235 says its done after that. Is it 2parallel, is that good or bad? It last a long time though so why only 3500mah

I don't know by your post if that's the first time you charged the battery or is this after many charges... first off, new batteries take a couple of charge/discharge cycles to achieve their full potential. 2nd.. new batteries usually come delivered in storage mode. That's about 3.8 volts per cell or about 80% capacity. If neither of those are the case, what kind of batteries (brand) are they. are you balancing the cell? charging at 11.1 volts and at what rate.(amps)? what do you call a long time? 10 minutes, 30 minutes?

I use my onyx235 charger, at max 8amps since the battery says 5c charge rate. I do 8 amps. Do u even know what I'm talking about?

Capacity estimate is possible with before and after charge resting voltages only. Or just use the two methods already in place (label and charger display)

Here's what I think you are asking. If you will get an open volt reading before the charge and then an open volt reading after the charge we can estimate the actual; capacity pretty closely.

I think cen knows what you are talking about...

Is it the first time out of the package that you are charging it?
If so, they come from the factory 1/2 charged. so in that situation, your experience would be normal

or... have you been using this pack for some time, and all of the sudden, it has lost 1/2 of its capacity?

Would this be a ******* by chance? Sorry couldn't resist.

Do you balance it with each charge?

resting volt readings are the key.

I'm saying that it is possible to estimate capacity remaining or required capacity to full mark or empty mark by using the open voltage of the pack or cells.

I guess another way to put it would be that if your packs are half full and you replace 3500 then that's normal and all is well , but if your pack is only 10% full and you replaced 3500 mah then that may be cause for concern.

There only one way to verify it , get some before and after volt readings.

Then the most important volt readings are going to be the individual cells at least 5 minutes after your run.

My 5000mah 2s 30c Venom pack did the same thing. After four or five cycles, it was charging darn near full capacity.
Than about eight charges in,it wouldn't take on more than 2800mah.And run time dropped in half too.Oh well,I guess if you want a good long lasting lipo, open the wallet wider and get a good quality battery.Thunder power has been good to me.But than again,so was Venom.

Traxxas, SPC, or Gens is what I use and have had them for 6 months and no issues fully charge each time

    Whats your take on Venom?
I know Traxxas is good, but you pay for it.

Gens is cheaper but my 2S 5000mah has been great from them yes the traxxas was expensive it was my first 2s and works great but my gens is just as good and the SPC I bought is 3s 5000 and that thing is crazy, only ran it a hand full of times but it has had no issues. I personally dislike venom hadn't had good luck with them and for the price id rather get spc or gens

Some users of the vxl system have had the esc's low voltage kick in early on 3s. I know the op found that his battery was bad, but the early lvc issue could produce the same results. @cannopia : contact traxxas support, as it could be a bad battery or the lvc causing the issue.

I have had my low voltage cutoff kick in way to early on 3s if I am beating on it. Never does it on the street alway on dirt but I like to slide it around a lot on dirt. When you plug your battery up check the voltage. Also check the light on the esc there is a slow and a fast blink. Slow is lvc fast is over heat. Make sure you are running a fan with 3s. Love my nana tech its a 5000 and it charges to 5200 if I can keep the vxl's lvc from hitting to early. The highest voltage I have had on the battery after the lvc has kicked in is 11.6
