Opinions on Traxxas website hopup parts

Title says it all. I'm wanting to hopup the durability of my emaxx. Lipos and brushless will come later. I see Traxxas has a bunch of hopup parts on the website. I need to know which are good to go for and which ones to avoid. If you recommend other sites leave me a link. So far the only thing I have are rpm bumpers. Thanks for any info.

The first three things I'm doing is getting the stock wheels and tires from the Summit and some big bore shocks. Does anybody know if the 17mm wheel hub adapters on the Traxxas website are worth anything?

I have the Traxxas 17mm hub adapters and there better than the stock ones. Idk my experience with the Traxxas parts are that they are really expensive. Example: full set of aluminum bulks $150 vs $50 from acnm which is equally good in quality that I've read ex#2. Traxxas aluminum chassis brace $60 vs $30 golden horizon aluminum chassis braces

You are running brushed motors so those will all work...but the summit wheels are glued on not real beadlocks, so you cant tape the tires (balloning at high speeds). The big bore shocks come with pretty weak springs or you can buy the integy green springs (only part from them allowed) or rcraven springs, some 1/8th buggy shocks around 4" would be better. The traxxas hubs are fine if you put some fiber washers behind them. Some people complain about slop, but they should try how we used to get 17mm ofna hubs on there before traxxas made these, that was slop. Aluminum bulks, flm, new era, acncm, great assembly

Most traxxas stuff I may get off of eBay. They tend to be cheaper there.

The new traxxas 17mm hub adapters are ordered. Along with that a set of rcraven dual rate springs and big bore shocks are ordered as well.

I HIGHLY recomend the rpm true track, rpm arms for front, rpm shock towers, rpm 3 piece skid. The traxxas center cvds are good. I heard the ones that come off the differentials though are too short.

I may get the black RPM add ons. I don't really like the blue RPM stuff.

Also another thing how can you tell what model your emaxx is?

They don't. You only need them for the front if you have the true track.

Not all 3903 have the latest EVX-2 with Low Voltage Detection. I'd dare say that only the 3903 produced sometime after 2012 have the newer EVX-2 with LVD

BTW, the only differance between the 3903, 3905 and 3908 is the electronics.

3903 has Blue EVX-2 (now with LVD), 2.4ghz, and titan 550.
    3905 has BLUE EVX-2, 27mhz, and titan 550
3908 has MMM brushless and Neu-Castle motor, 2.4ghx (now TQi)

All the chassis, front, rear, and driveline is the same except for tires (brushless has tallon tires) and single vs dual motor plate.

Relize that a 3905 can be upgraded to a 3903 with a new radio.

You might even have a 3906 that has a new spec chassis, but I doubt that.

Post up some pics or take it to ur LHS if ur not sure.

I do not think there are any traxxas hop ups that aren't recommended, they are just expensive. I would definitely recommend an RPM bumper over the traxxas aluminum bumpers, aluminum bumpers aren't bad because the bumper mounts can still absorb impact but RPM is probably the cheapest upgrade anyways, and it does the best job. Again with bulkheads a full set of ACNCM bulkheads is $50 and they are great quality. Another part I thought I'd mention, the response racing tires are the lightest racing tires available, they have great traction, but they have a short life. The 6.3" maxx tires (revo stock tires) are great offroad especially in the nasty stuff, I was puling wheelies in the mud, I do not recommend them on pavement, I actually use the stock chveron tires on pavement.

    Probably.

The Traxxas parts are pretty good upgrades from stock, but as mentioned above, FLM, UE, RPM, and many others male superior parts for less. Also, Traxxas is limited in their lineup, for example, they do not make an adjustable aluminum chassis or shock towers

    +1 on hating autocorrect

one question though, has anybody successfully mounted a wheelie bar and a rpm rear step bumper together on the back of an emaxx? i didnt realize i had to have the stock bumper till i bought the wheelie bar. i will modify the step bumper or buy the stock bumper if i have to. If anybody has successfully modded the RPM step rear bumper and/or the traxxas wheelie bar and you could tell me how that would be great.

Second note. I cant wait to put my new big bore shocks on the emaxx along with the dual rate springs.

Also i changed my mind about the summit wheels and tires. I am going to get some proline tires or HPi tires and wheels

I just ordered a wheelie bar and i want to get a step bumper. I don't see why not... it bolts on exactly how the stock one does. Let me know about the big bores....i want to get some.

Which wheelie bar are you getting? The Traxxas wheelie bar slides over your rear skid plate where it goes upto the bumper. It don't bolt up. At the top part of the wheelie bar it has like a clip that clips around the bottom rung of stock bumper. I'm wondering if there is a way to modify the RPM step bumper so it can work

I think I have figured out a way to make the Traxxas wheelie bar work with the RPM step bumper. The only modification it requires undoing the 4 hex screws on the wheelie bar and turning the main bracket upside down and putting the the wheelie arms back just like they were. I'm not sure what the name of the part you then loop the hook around. I will post pics ASAP.

Well if it hooks around the tube bumper i don't think it is going to work then. I ordered the traxxas one.

    here are the pics

Here is the wheelie bar with the main bracket flipped upside down and the wheelie arms put back the way they were.

The part (which i cant think of at the moment) the bumper hook will be going around. It is the same part used to hold the rear tie rod arms on.

The unknown part with the bumper hook around it. Keep in mind you will have to pull the skid plate back far enought to get the bumper hook enough room to get around it. or you can take the skid plate off which you choose.

If you do not recommend this please let me know. Also if it looks like the wheelie bar is too close to the chassis let me know.

P.S. I know I need to clean it soon.

Probably stiff and high, that raises center of gravity (COG) and allows the truck to tip easier.

    Nice truck!

If you're still looking for upgrades, the Big Bore shock set is great - I love mine. Also, the Tubes aluminum toe links are more durable than stock and look sharp. While I do have the 2-speed, I'd recommend against it.
