Something finally broke on my Monster Mutt

I love the reliability of Traxxas models.

My Monster Mutt is bone box stock, and it has been used twice daily, sometimes three times a day, every single day, since last November 7 when I unboxed it to use to exercise my dog with it. I use 5000 mAh 2S 35C batteries in it.

Well, the other day something finally broke. I lost the steering servo. What happened, was the main output shaft broke off three teeth.

I have a few left over servos that have mostly burned out PC boards, so I grabbed a main shaft gear out of one and rebuilt the servo in the truck. back in business.

sounds like your pretty easy to your p2de than. Well i guess i just love to run mine hard cuz ive snapped two front arms one rear arm and two bulkheads since getting mine in february. Awesome though that you had replacement ready to go. Maybe i need to learn to be more gentle on mine and i would be like you...

I've never understood how people manage to mangle their RCs so much. We've had two Slashes for a year and two 'pedes since Christmas, all of which have seen skate park and motocross park duty, and our damages have amounted to one broken Slash nerf bar.

I mean, if you're into jumping off roofs and breaking stuff on purpose that's cool too, I guess. But ours are anything but shelf queens and they really just refuse to break.

I guess I run a bit more like cuda although I tend to break stuff on my Slash >> Rusty > Pede because that's how much they're driven.

Now that the P2de is brushless and Slash is still in ICU the p2de is getting more drive time. I _think_ I'm getting a lil tired of fixing things so I'm trying to drive a little easier on it now.

I break more on 2S than my buddy on 3S so I know it's my wild WOT driving style.
What broke, uh, needs upgrading now?

Always feels good to be able to get back up and going out of parts already in the parts bin eh? In the future, I highly suggest a metal geared servo as they are 10X stronger, and hold up to alot more abuse, equaling alot less down time.

But nice job on the break, Now for some more If ya havent broken a stock castor block yet, u gotta drive alittle harder

    I have:

    1 T-Maxx /Modified
    2 E-Maxx's /Modified
    2 Rustler's/ Modified
3 Stampede's/ One Modified, One Shelf Queen, One Stock
    1 Summit/ Stock

    I have broken:
Stock and aftermarket bulkheads, castor blocks, suspension arms, wheels, shock bodies, skids, bumpers, bumper mounts, driveshafts, tranny cases, MIP cvd's, differentials, spun the teeth off of gears in the trans, twisted drivelines like licorice sticks, numerous servos, ESC's, motors, and etcetera.

But the Monster Mutt is driven only in my backyard, and it is 80% grass, 10% concrete, and 10% dirt. I drive the truck as hard as it will run, and it does flip sometimes, I have run into the house AC unit, patio support posts, sprinklers, chain link fence, patio furniture legs, and even into the swimming pool.

But, I don't try to break it, I just try to get my dog to chase it or run away from it.

And yes, it is really nice to have a fun truck that does everything I ask of it and it just keeps running and running.

I am at a loss too or don't understand how and why.... I drive my Pede hard, jump it, roll it, race it and had zero breakage.
Mostly off road use in the dirt and some grass...occasional street bashing.
Now, my son in-law is another matter! LOL!
I don't know what he does but I am constantly helping him repair his Pede, ordering parts, looking up parts, etc!! He won't tell me how, when, where or why....LOL!!

    Well guess what?

The Titan 12T finally wore out today. I drove it this morning with my dog and it seemed fine, like normal. Except, it suddenly slowed dramatically. I figured it was the LVC coming on. So I unplugged the battery and put the truck up.

Went out this afternoon for run #2 (I exercise my dog twice a day with Monster Mutt) and the motor was acting like the battery was very low. I have 6 LiPo packs so it would not have been odd if I grabbed a discharged pack. I installed another and same thing. I then connected the motor leads directly to a known fully charged pack and it would barely start, if at all.

I removed the motor and blew it clean with compressed air and using a flashlight I inspected the brushes and they are almost gone. So that was it, the motor is just worn out.

Twice a day, sometimes three. Usually 15 minutes at a time. Since November 7th. I have no complaints.

I had a spare Titan 12T so I installed it and was up and running again in about 10 minutes.

I must have jinxed myself by starting this thread!

Yesterday I blew apart the steering servo saver when I accidentally crashed into the legs of a chaise lounge. I have seen them strip out before but not blow apart!
