Led lights control with Traxxas transmitter.

I will install rpm fogs/red lights on my 6808 Slash and plug it in the receiver box. Is it possible to turn on/off the led lights with the transmitter?

Any 3 channel TQi controller should work just fine.

I tried this using my new 4 Ch Summit radio with lights plugged into the extra channels on the receiver and it did not work. I am now thinking that my plug I was using was connected to the wrong pins. Before I start cutting and splicing on connectors, does anyone know for a fact that they can be controlled by the 3d, or 4th channels on the system, and what plugs or connections on the plug need to be used to accomplish this.

I am installing a serious LED light kit on an extra body for my slash. Love running the slash at night - major fun. I bought the light kit from rclighthouse.com. They provide a quick disconnect plug - one side attaches to the light set and the other side plugs into the CH3 connector on the receiver. It comes with a red, push button to power the light on and off. Is this what you are referring to? If so, let me know and I will provide extensive info/pictures on this for you. LED’s are awesome.

It won't work just like that.

Power on any receiver channel/port is ALWAYS ON.
So LED lights will always always light up as soon as you turn on the car.

The thing that the switch of the corresponding channel on your transmitter does is sending a pulse on the signal cable (white wire) of the servo cable, e.g. moving the output spline in the case of a servo.

If you want to have your LED's switched on/off by this, you need some sort of interface in between your receiver and the LED's, that interprets this signal into an power on/off value for your LED's/whatever device you hook up to it.

An example of such interfaces: http://www.robotmarketplace.com/store_td-rc.html

Depends on the brand of radio

Different radio systems activate the 3rd channel in different ways

My Spektrum DX3s will happily turn LED'S (6v strip) on / off with no additional hardware required

    Hey Crusey,

Can you share you you accomplished this? I have a DX3s and bought it for the sole purpose of turning my lights on and off. All my research turned up was cumbersome solutions similar to Tjon (no offense meant there T) which is not what I want.

Plug LED strip into 3rd channel

Turned on or off with AUX slide switch on transmitter

    Nothing more required

Cant post link for the LED's I used as it comes from the banned site, PM me if you need details

    Cheers

I bought the LED on/off controller from rclights.com. It works great with the 2.4 Traxxas system. If the plugs don't fit an Exacto will fix it. I had to slice the side spline off the light kit connector to plug in and it works great.

you'll need an electronic switch plugged into the receiver to work the lights. If you just plug in without the switch it will either be on when the receiver has power or won't work at all, depending on how it's wired. The reciever has a 6v and ground output, the signal wire is 0.3V ouput.
I use the pololu switch. Click input one side output other side. IN= live wire, VRC = signal wire, GND= ground

Yeah, I know you need a switch plug but i just want to know what the wire plug is called.
Is there like a specific name for it that fits on the receiver port?

Ahhh the servo plug. As far as i'm aware they can all be made to fit, the wire sequance may be different. But easy enough to swap around.

I'd have to open up my receiver to double check, but i think it was the JR type. I just used my old 2075 servo plug that i was throwing out.
Your links don't work but i guess it is the one with control box and all the lights and a set of baja spot lights.

I use the 3racing in the maxx and rpm roof light bar.

That was the new install before i replaced all the led's then added 2 more. for brighter night time lights.

And the modded Tx. with the extra channels added.

I don't know, maybe a sensor port for the tqi system.
can't remember how much the light bar was, I got it from an iffy looking hobby shop online that had pics and looked like a flee market inside. But turned up ok.
I did had to replace all the led's to brighter ones, they were bought from an auto shop online.
