I would get a iPhone when they have a screen that does not brake when you drop it. Untill then I still have my droid Motorola witch has been one of the best smartphones I have had so far.

The way phones are going now with bigger screens, having a new phone that doesn't crack when you drop it is almost impossible. However, I've seen far more HTC/Samsung android phones with cracked screens than iPhones.

My position on the situation is to just not drop your phone.lol Or get a case.

This is true with the screens are getting bigger and bigger on them, trying not to drop them to also helps a lot lol. I have a otter box on mine witch are nice to have. IMO I think most people go out and by the latest and greatest phone sometimes I think it's more of a fashion statement. I have 3G now and everyone has to go out and buy 4g in my area, I ask why when we don't even have it other then if you go into the city and stay within a few mile area then ok you have it. Girl I worked with before would always bought about two to three phones a year at crazy price, and she wonders why she's in debt lol

Lol, I'm very protective of my phone. Otterboxes are way overpriced and I refuse to buy them.
My dad had the Blackberry Storm since it came out in 2010 and just recently bought the Samsung Note (Huge Phone lol) because of the Blackberry aging. I'm doing an every other model thing with my iPhone. That's why I don't have the 4S.lol

I'm with you on the 4G thing. 4G is still limited to urban areas and will mutilate your battery.
It is a fashion statement nowadays with most people. Especially around my age

The Galaxy S III is gonna be crazy. I can't wait until it comes out, I'd like to mess around with it.
And that Gorilla Glass is interesting too.

I got an otterbox case for my phone off ebay for $18. Also 4g does not mutilate my battery, having the display on does. I don't understand how 4g could be a fashion statement when the phones look almost exactly the same as 3g phones?

I was meaning we have no 4g service where we are. And meaning most people have to have the newest phone that just can out that day. But seeing that you your in NYC you should have 4g service.

    That's cool
The display would be on to use 4G data though. And my friend showed me how using 4G on his Evo killed his battery more than 3G.
And I didn't say 4G was a fashion statement. I'm saying for some people, going out and having the newest phone every 4 months is

Yea, I wouldn't doubt 4g uses more battery than 3g. But on 4g, my phone easily lasts from when I wake up to when I go to sleep and put it on the charger, unless I use it heavily. And yea now that I think of it a lot of people get the newest iphone asap because everyone else does and its cool, not because its the best phone (which its not IMO)

LG Ally The least capable android phone. It was free so I won't complain but from an objective standpoint it lags/crashes. I'm upgrading next week.

iPhone 4S... which I do NOT like as much as my iPhone 4. But I have a rotation going right now where my wife and I have contracts 1 year apart. So when a new iPhones come out I give her mine and upgrade her old one to the latest for myself. She's happy, I'm happy and we sell her old phone to pay for the difference. So far we've been through the iPhone, 3G, 3GS, 4 and 4S and havent spent a dime.

Im a huge fan of apple products in every category and own nearly all of them. However, there are a number of really sweet features on the android stuff that I would love to have. On the other hand, I have a friend who worked at best buy as one of their "geek squad" and he said he will never buy android. Apparently (and I don't own one so i can't verify this from experience) the open source of the android system (or whatever it is) allows for viruses whereas the closed setup on apple makes it much much harder... I guess the next big thing for hackers is phone viruses and android is the most at risk. In 10 years I've never had anti virus software on my apple computer or other products and I've NEVER had a virus. Im staying put... nuff said.

HTC thunderbolt 4GLTE!!!!!!!! I could of got the iphone, but they brake to easy. Apple always screws me over somehow to. Ive dropped my thunderbolt 2 times on concrete and the screen has never broke. They make a industructible phone, which is called the casio gzone commando or something like that. My brother has it and its not as advanced as my thunderbolt or my parents droid razrs, but the industructible ness comes in handy. The droid razrs can beat the iPhones anyday!!!

after dropping my iPhone on concrete I decided to replace the screen myself, here is the result

after a frenzy of ordering iPhone parts here is my brother's iPhone

My brother replaced 2 antennas (the chassis) and he won't be replacing any more, it's super hard and the front facing camera is questionably secure. I am sad that I will be replacing my iphone for the iphone 5 but my old one will be in perfect condition when I sell it with a brand new LCD screen and back cover.

Most people have and iphone 4 as it is the best selling phone in the world, it has a good app store, and reliable, but the fact of the matter is that android phones are so much better in so many different way. I have the Samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket and it has a 4.5" screen with full 1080p, faster processor, 4g LTE, thinner, more more durable, also very reliable, better batter life, and you can custamize them so much more. The iphone is just a 5 by 4 grid pattern, the buttons on the iphone for going back are always in different spots on different apps and things like this. You cant choose what internet you browse with by default, have widgets and i find doing things on my phone are far more simpler than on my moms ipnone 4. Most of the new android phone will be pretty much faster than the iphone. I will say that if apple ever comes out with an iphone that has gorilla glass, bigger screen, better resolution, faster network and processor, then i will most likely get it because of the apple store. All iphone also have way more accessories than android phones as they are way more popular. Just some things to consider for when you want to buy a phone.

Uhh, yes you do. Mac os is just unix and what do you think a jailbreak is for ios? Its an injection of non apple code running on an idevice.

There are a few mac os trojans about right now. Mac os is rarely a target because 99% of users run windows, why go after 1%?

Sorry, off topic but having been a computer engineering student this debate is now annoying and the "facts" are wrong.
