looking to upgrade the Bandit XL-5 to the Velineon 3350x, Gearing question

I am thinking of going brushless on my Bandit. It has the optional 31t gear on it that came with it years ago. Is the stock pinion and spur gear set up sufficaint to to run on the buggy as it is now?

I am asking because I dont want to burn anything up!

    Thanks in advance

I think the VXL set will pull the gearing. Very important is to watch the temps.

Gearing depends on the terrain. A very wise insect once told me "Always let your temps be your guide"

What is the stock spur size? 31/76 sounds pretty high if you don't have a temp gun.

31pinion is pretty high but is ok as long as you have a good battery and are just doing speed runs. it will be very fast with that gear. what kind of battery are you running?

Larger pinion gear/smaller spur gear combinations are for high-speed running on hard, smooth surfaces only.

thats right off of the website, the gearing they suggest is 33pinion/76spur with a 11.1v lipo which is to run on smooth surfaces only. what are you going to be doing with your bandit?
