Thumbs up Trx 3.3 heating and idle problem!

I have a 3.3 motor in a OG Slayer I bought used. I replaced the head shim and cleaned it before running it. The engine starts up good. But after running it for about 15-20 min it starts to idle high and the temps start to get out of control. I can turn it rich and the temps won't go down. I have the carb almost closed at idle but it still starts to idle high. The truck runs good, till the idle problems make the heat start to go up. The top of the piston was still sliver with very light brown near the intake ports. Any info would be helpful, thanks in advance.

Try checking for air leaks around the carb, fuel lines, and the gas tank lid. if air gets in it will lean out the fuel mixture and cause it to idle high with high engine temps. PM me if you have anymore questions!

Definitely check Wolfslash's suggestion's, a lean LSN will cause a high idle and hot temps fatten it up & see if that doesn't help.
    Look out for the tree/crunch!

I removed my engine from the truck. Then I removed the carb and cleaned it all then used RTV to seal it. It runs great now. It must have had a leak at the carb. Thanks for the help I didn't know what to do. I had messed with the HSN & LSN and didn't have any luck. But now it runs great!

    Justyn,

What did you seal and what is an RTV? Newbie here, thanks.

    I sealed it with RTV.
Here is a link to what I used. I got it from Advanced Auto Parts
    http://www.permatex.com/products/aut...sket_maker.htm

It works really good if you have a bad seal.
