Custom diff locks for 1/16 summit?

Has any body designed a mini locking differential for the mini summit? I want to build it for the summit and so far, I have the linkages and a servo in the battery box coming out of the holes but i don't know how to build a locking diff and i also don't have the tools.

So basically, has anybody scaled this down? I don't care if i have to cut holes in the chassis for the linkages.

You would need to be able to...
1) make new bulkheads
2) make new diff cups
3) make the arm that pushes the "castle" part
4) make the "castle" part

Yes. Would you also need to build a new diff ring gear with the grooves for the castle?

No.
The castle bites into the diff cup on the 1/10th scale.
But then again, the diff cup is a part of the ring gear on the 1/16...

I am certain that a company COULD. But with servo, shift linkage, new diff, new metal gears plus the R&D we are talking about a $110 part for a $160 used truck that is slowly losing popularity. But traxxas does sell inserts for about $4 that permanently locks your diffs for you.

Noir do you know anyone that i can call up to build diffs? Maybe the toyz or someone else? They would be a good seller because the mini summit without diff lockers was a really big complaint when it came out.

What you want is

They lock your diffs but are not able to unlock. But with a 2lb truck with a small turning radius a permeneantly locked diff will not affect turning too much, but should help with climbing greatly

I was looking at those last week and the only thing that kept me back was the thought that my turning radius would be affected.

If you call a machine shop to get what you want made... you are looking at a $1,000+ bill before it is all done. There would be a tremendous amount of hours, numerous machines needed, plus tons of time.

All i want them to do is slice grooves in the diff and make a crown.

honestly, i think this is a lost cause.... it isn't feasible on this platform..... why do you think traxxas didn't do it when they made the 1/16th? they offered diff locks, that cost $3
