Mine maxed out at 56mph, how can I make it faster?

Has anyone used superchargers or nitrous injectors
You can change the gearing into revo gearing 20/40, this will add a slight top end speed.
and about the super charger and the nitrous i read so many negative inputs about them. for years i didn't read or watched a single video
proofs that these things helped out with a Jato.
i think that sequrril posted a youtube on this and how much this supercharger hurts the nitro engine.
Thanks how about low end power and also what upgrades do I need to make it an awesome offroad basher so far i have: shock cover, proline dirt hawg tires, exhaust deflector, Exo carbon bumper, RPM blue A arms, pre filter or air filter, fuel cooler, green fuel line, and fuel filter*
Do you have a jato
why so many, and post pics please so i can see mods
here's the best offraod setup made for the jato by Pro

ya that one is pretty sweet but i want to know what you think of mine, ill post pics aas soon as i figure out how, i just created an account last night!
ok. sign with photobucket and uplaod your pictures then copy IMG code here .
ya ill post them tonight ive been posting all day fro phone and theres no way to post pics from it and i just now learned that
is there anything to keep the jato cleaner like a shroud
it's not possible to keep it clean 100% all the time because it will catch some dirt, clay, sands you name it.
just use an air spary, protect your eyes with clear glasses and spary it then use a cloth to clean it with simple green.
ok my pics are in the computer now , what number do i type in to post it
I figured out how to post pics[IMG][/IMG]
What fuel are you running?
I picked up a Jato last week, & I was able to hit 54.8mph on 20% Nitro, still not fully broken in or tuned up. The Jato was still accelerating when I let off so I'm sure it will go higher. I'm going to 30% Nitro and will try to get the truck to max out. Traxxas says they used 33% to hit 65mph, I think the 30% Strike Team race fuel I got is better quality fuel.
No speed gun, but I just figured Id show some vid my girlfriend took of me at the park after I got my car running normal again
Jato 3.3 at the park
Jato 3.3 - Losi Micro-T - The Frog
looks good welcome to the madness that is the Jato.
I clocked the top at 62.1 mph and the bottom was at 53 mph
Billy
T-Maxx 3.3 Jato 3.3
Just got in from some speed runs.
Found me a nice lil spot for speed runs and I was able to break her into 60mph. Still a bone stock Jato I hit 61.0mph with the lid off and GPS strapped to the front end. I finally found my speed run spot that is perfect for riding out the top end of all my Rigs. I got a pic showing speed and acceleration spike, darn thing was still acceleratin, I figure a few more sessions and she will be fully broken in, pinch is still a bit tight. I think she has a few more mph in her, at 61mph she's still pulling hard and hasn't flattened out.
The GPS makes speed runs a bit easier as without it the front wheels barely make contact even when not pulling a wheelie. Hard to steer.
60mph+ already, right out the box, insane.
Using my radar gun, my Jato was only able to hit 52mph stock out the box using 20% Odonell fuel.
I have since drilled out my tail pipe, installed a 53 tooth spur, and switched to 33% Odonell fuel, and have hit best of 64mph using my radar gun.
The higher topend was due to the spur gear change, and the drilling of the tail pipe, the higher percentage fuel didnt really change my topend, but it did improve my bottom end torque. Engine temps are normally in the 190-210*F.
I would try different fuel. I tagged 61mph box stock with Strike Team 30% and my slipper was slipping, 65mph shouldn't be a prob box stock with the Strike Team fuel. It's not just about Nitro %, you have to consider the oil % . Strike Team is Morgans "Racing" fuel & has only 8% oil vs Morgans Sidewinder fuel & the norm at 12%. I think the Traxxas gas has something like 12 to 16% I believe. Strike Team is the most powerfull 30% I've tried and ive run all the Pink, and a few of the Blue. Purple so far has been the best.
keep in mind, 190 to 210 is a safe tune, could probably gain some top end by tuning it out. It's safe to hit 270f & while I like to have my engines running around 240 to 250f, I'll take it up a notch for top speed running.
I went out for a top end session earlier. Extreme heat 38c with humidity today so conditions were HOT. The Jato is still Box stock aside from a stick pack in the rear & a RPM bumper up front. Im still running the original slipper clutch, but I have a alloy HD slipper for her going in when I start upgrading her. I got a fresh Gallon of Strike Team 30% and new plug. Also a fresh set of stock wheels and tires getting their first run. With the heat I decided to not lean out the HSN at all, just to keep her safe. This is basically Gallon #2 on the engine, just finishing doing the top end breaking in. I figure the engine has a little more waking up to do
I got her up to 62.1mph
Seems the place I'm running at is only long enough to get to just over 60mph, I'm going to scout a spot for someplace to really max out and get to the speed she stops accelerating at. You can see shes still accelerating every time I let off the throttle, clearly she has more to go.
Sorry bout the crap pics, had to take them with a crap phone.
My calculation put the 3.3 at 36,500rpm when running 62.1mph. Not too bad I must say.

Got a few runs in today with the GoPro filming it, nailed 63.2mph. Keeping in mind she doesn't have a lid and is weighed down a bit by the GPS, with the areodynamics of the lid alone should have me around 65mph, completely stock, cant count the bumper or batt pack. Video of the run should be up when I get to my PC.
What's everybody else hitting stock everything?
Weight doesnt affect top speed only the acceleration. I dont know how much the body does, I did several runs with my rustler and the speed seemed to be the same with and without the body. After 70 mph then the aero becomes more serious.
Keep in mind a phone is not a good way of measuring speed, I know because I did it before as well.
Weight most certainly does effect top speed. Add a few pounds to your rig after maxing it out, try and get that same speed, won't happen. Weight and speed go hand in hand. Lighter will reach higher top speed as long as you have engine to go, that's a fact.
The body IMO will definitely help get those last 2mph out of her. You don't need speed at 70mph for it to matter, as speed increases, so does the rolling resistance from the tires and wind resistance from the vehicle moving through the wind dragging (as in "drag") a low pressure zone that's slowing down the vehicle. The faster you go the more rolling and wind resistance is generated and at 63mph it most certainly makes an impact, 1 to 2mph is reasonable, if not conservative.
Before I even considered GPS as a means for testing, I run a controlled test taking the GPS in a stock (un modified, even stock wheels and tires) car to compare the GPS to the Speedometer, & as anybody not trying to be petty can tell you, GPS is the most accurot means of recording speed with our RCs. Radar suffers from the cosine effect and getting my truck to top off each time in the perfect zone for the gun is a PITA. GPS can use many satellites to get a fix, mine is triangulated through 7 satellites so I'm pretty confident the results are spot on... Not sure what you were doing that messed up your phones gps, but I think I'm okay. Could be a slow processor lags your readings or something..
I've got a little experience with Nitro RC, the Jato is my 6th current.

Heres a clip of my 63.2mph run. The GoPro makes super big files that are a pita to deal with, I had to clip the video and convert the file before uploading to keep from the upload taking a few hours that I don't have right now. I realized after that the GPS screen is not visible clearly, I took the cam off my head and did a close up but I will have to upload it after when I got a few more hours to dedicate to it before I figure out a way to manipulate these files easier.

I credit the speed to a good break in, awesome fuel and a great tune on the engine. I think people are not getting the same speeds because of the Tune, my suspicion is too many 3.3's running lean to get crazy acceleration at the cost of the top end. I blow plenty smoke and the engine temps are low 220f, but it takes a distance to get up to speed.
At 63.2mph the 3.3 was pushing 37,000rpm, serious RPMs....
