steering problem, constant adj steering trim

I've got a weird problem with my steering. when driving it in any condition/track I constantly have to keep adjusting my steering trim from left to right. It seems that this started after I installed the pro-line performance steering kit. My stock slash, 2075 servo took a dump too. So I installed a Futaba one with metal gears, Traxxas is sending me a replacement servo and I will install that when it comes, to eliminate if the servo is the problem.

Its really annoying and hard for me to be a good driver, lol. I am almost ready to install the stock steering back in!

Note - My buddies 2wd slash with the pro-line steering kit also does the same exact thing!!!

Disconnect all linkages to the bell crank and make sure it swings completely free. Start there.

This sounds like a bad servo, but because it also happens with your friends truck, I'm not so sure.

Do you have the problem with the truck up on a stand?

With the power off, slowly swing the wheels from side to side and check for binding.

What servo did you put in this? Model #? Maybe it isn't strong enough.

Another thought, what brand front skid are you using, and does the new steering kit use bearings??

yeah its the proline, full ball bearing kit.

i will give that swing on stand and check for binding. i did that when i installed the kit. i am thinking it is the servo.

my stock 2075 did the shut down problem from a short. traxxas is sending me a replacement, but for the time being i installed a futaba one with steel gears ( dont recall model #) cant look either as i am out of town for 2 weeks

anything else? could it be linkage ends, carriers? thanks

If it steers but doesn't center every time, its probably a weak or worn out servo.

First check for binding on all moving parts in the steering system. May save you from blowing up another servo...

you probably over tighten you crank belt, what happened to me is when i turn right all the way and let the controller go, my wheels would not turn streight all the way, but that because i over tighten the bell crank so make sure it swings freely

I made this change at the same time I installed the pro-line suspension kit too. Is there an alignment tool I can buy? I did it using a square.
