    New to nitro. Please help!!!

Hey guys im Brady, a 17 year old who is new to all this. I bought a used Nitro rustler and im already in love but I have several questions, a few problems starting, and some more questions. I would really appreciate if someone would text me ans help me out. I promise im not gonna annoy the crap out of you, just a few simple questions. My number is 706-258-7837
I just have simple questions about the glow plug charger that was included with my rustler, air filter questions, and starting and caring for my rustler to get the most out of it.

    Thank you all in advance!!!

And when I try to start, fuel pours out my exhaust. The thing ran real good yesterday. Just can't start it today

Pretty normal to see some fuel out of the pipe. Is it a pull start engine, or EZ start? If you have a separate glow plug charger, make sure it's charged and have a couple of new spare glow plug too.

It'll never start without a good glow and a nice dry plug.

make sure the blue wire is on the glow plug nice and tight too and not damaged in any way if it is then it wont pass enough power through to glow plug.

one of 3 things. Glow charger is not charged enough, glow plug is bad, or it's flooded. First remove glow plug from engine and make sure it glows nice and bright in glow plug igniter if not try a new glow plug to make sure igniter is charged. While you have the glow plug removed turn car upside and run easy start for a few seconds. If lots of fuel shoots out there's a good chance it was flooded. Re-install glow plug and try to start it normally again. Should fire right up if you havn't messed tuning needles!

My igniter isn't charged. I tried a new plug in it and it didn't glow. How long should it take to charge my dynamite igniter???? Any ideas?

it depends on that. some take 8hrs some 16hrs. see how much MAH the charger is putting in then see how much MAH the glow ignitor is and then divide MAH from ignitor+charger then you'll get your time.

Did you also get the igniter used? You might need a new rechargeable battery!! Being that the Rustler is years old the igniter might be also!! But being that it worked the other day that's questionable. How long did you charge it before you started the other day? And let me give you a little tip. It's always a good idea to have an extra igniter that takes a c or d battery, so you will always know where the problem lies. Plus you will always have a back-up wherever you go. You can always just buy a battery!!

I have a dynamite igniter as well and it runs on a C. I didnt even know that dynamite made rechargeable igniters. You might want to check and make sure that it doesnt unscrew and have a battery inside it lol. IF it is rechargeable just be patient and let it get a full charge. Learning how to start/tune/maintain your nitro RC takes tons of patience so keep your stress levels down lol

i dont think you have given enough information to make a good assessment. You can have any one of multiple issues or a combination of several. Start with the basics and see if you can narrow it down. here are some tips to get you started.

1 - Remove glow plug and get all the fuel out of the cylinder
2 - Recharge your igniter or your starting wand. If you have a wand, why do you need an igniter? Just one more thing to break.
3 - Use a new glow plug that you know lights
4 - Dont prime your engine anymore than you need - just until the fuel just reaches the carb
5 - Cross your fingers and stick out your tongue....no, to the other side!

Went to hobby town usa today and tested my glow plug igniter and it was dead! The battery inside was no good so i got the blue wire that leads from the ez start to the glow plug and the igniter built into my ez wand still works. So my glow plug wasnt bad and i also dont have to carry around that igniter anymore!!!! So glad to get it running! Thank all you guys so much for helping me but im sure thats not the only question i will have!!

    Thanks again!!
