So I have had some time living with the castle motor fan. Honestly, its good for a few minor degrees during run time temp checking. What I do see as it's greatest benefit occurs when the truck is at a stop. It helps drop the temps much quicker for obvious reason.
But in a real world comparison, I'd have to give the nudge to the heat sink. Mostly, because I feel that it's got to be a bit better at actually dissipating heat. And these electric motors get hot, much more so than a small fan can aid in cooling. Unless, it had a brushless motor running it. When I blow the air compressor thru it, man it can really spin fast.
So really, e fan is good for 3 to maybe five degrees cooler during the run. Has anyone really taken data from a heat winked motor for before after comparisons? What were the temps coming off of it? I know the air coming thu the fan registered 107 on a 163 degree can.
Is it worth possibly settling this comparison for those thinking about buying a fan or a heatsink ven if it's only for small bit of peace of mind. We know the gearcase is where the real benefit comes in, but not everybody is willing to go that route for whatever the reason may be.
Let's see if this goes anywhere
