How to.......Fix broken antenna 2.4ghz receiver.

Ever had the antenna wire tip broken off from skidding its back without its lid? and since after that, your signal just never the same as it was before? very frustrated and it cost so much to buy a new one? heres an easy yet simple fixed for it.

    1. cut the metal tube
    2. use a hobby knife and slowly cut the black skin off to its length to expose the braided wire
    3. do the same with the braided wire, be very carefull cuting it as its the final cut, or you'll have to do it all over again.
    4. done, you should have the same signal like it was before.

i noticed on mine the braided wire has to be in contact with the metal tube to get the same range on what it had.But on mine it was just the tube that came off.

not necesarily, i believe the metal tube is there to give it a stiffness to the antenna tube. i could be wrong but, when i tested it, it was working like it was before.

like i said i tried it and this guys plan to fix the range for a broken antenna works. range increased by at least double from before. NOT SUPER FAR but a good distance. Here are some pix of what i did from what it was before.

    Before

dont have a picture of the broken metal tube or the broke plastic end. BUt look at the length difference.

    AFTER

As you can notice, i was able to save a small piece of the metal tube.

you dont need that metal piece that clamping the wire, that will cause cut off signal from time to time, you can cut that off.

I don't think you ever want to 'cut' or remove any part of this antenna!
    From the owners manual:

    IMPORTANT RADIO SYSTEM PRECAUTIONS
    • For maximum range, always point the front of transmitter toward
    the model.
    • Do not kink the receiver’s antenna wire. Kinks in the antenna wire
    will reduce range.
DO NOT CUT any part of the receiver’s antenna wire. Cutting the
    antenna will reduce range.
    • Extend the antenna wire in the model as far as possible for
maximum range. It is not necessary to extend the antenna wire out
of the body, but wrapping or coiling the antenna wire should be
    avoided.
    • Do not allow the antenna wire to extend outside the body without
the protection of an antenna tube, or the antenna wire may get
cut or damaged, reducing range. It is recommended to keep the
wire inside the body (in the antenna tube) to prevent the chance
    of damage.

Kinda reviving here, but I want to be clear before I go doing anything. I ripped the metal off the end of my RX, leaving the wire that went through the tube still intact. Can I use a metal tube, put on the end, making contact with the braided shielding, and have it working correct again? As in, there is nothing fancy with the tube on the original one?
    Dan

EDIT; Upon a little more reading, I see that the length of the tube, and the length of the wire should be the same, at 3.125 CM. I'm thinking thats the important part, so I should be able to fix it.

i know exactly what the manual says and clearly understand it, but heres the thing about it,...... traxxas protect their product(s) as for warranty wise.

here a picture i just took, the cut was after the metal tube....then peeled off the black skin and then the braided skin. the wire tip length is less than inch.

I believe you but put a vid on, as pictures don't show it working to the same good range.
