    Stampede 4x4 basically stock motor and battery temps !!

    Hi everyone,

    Been doing small mods of my Stampede 4x4, heat sink on motor, RPM front and back (slash 4x4 bumper), jconcept lower body mount and i bought an infrared temps sensor.

    Now my battery read a temp after about 15 minutes of 130 celcius (+/_) and my motor was about 105 celcius(+/-). Now I know they were extremely hot but it did not burn my skin on touch. Is this normal ? I ran my truck about 5 times now, gears and axles are fine, and i was running in the street doing back and forth.

    What can i do ?

    thanks

    130ºC = 266ºF
    105ºC = 221ºF

    Those temps are WAY too high. I suspect you have damaged both the battery and the motor.

    You need to inpect the truck for binds int he drive line and consider re gearing it.

    I think I would also be making plans to replace the battery and maybe the motor as well.

    If you didnt burn your skin on the touch at 130C, then you are very special or your temp gun is just on F. The magnet in your motor gets damaged at around +95C, so at 105 it probably lost power now.

    I don't get it... it's the stock settings with the NIMH battery, how can things overheat so much from driving it around for 15 minutes on a street ?

    Double check that your temp gauge is set to °C and not °F. If it got to the above temps °C in that short time period, you would probably have a smoldering pile of truck.

    If your temp gauge is set to °F then I wouldn't worry, those temps are fine on a stock system with a ni-mh battery.

    Might want to exchange it for a new one if it's not too old.

    There are marine wax sticks that dab on like a marker if it is over the temp it melts, 180f is very comman,

    anything nead 200f on stk motor is TOAST , the brgs fail quickly at that temp.
