Ready for a lipo - some questions

So I finally got my pre reqs done to the pede for the 3s lipo. Got the gh alum gearbox installed and picked up a thunder ac680 charger. Like I said I want to go with a 3s lipo around 5000mah over 20c and I want to stay with a hard case. Looking to spend around 50-60 bucks. Been eyeballing the gens ace 3s 5000mah 40c hardcase for 50 bucks. The problem I'm having is with fitament. Ive found several lipos that fit length and width but nothing that fits height wise in the stock tray. It's a newer pede so the ribs are out of the bottom of the tray and I guess I have like 26mm to work with height wise. I really don't want to have to raise my body by using the esc raiser however I don't have a dremel to modify my chassis to fit so I think I'm stuck raising the esc till I get one. For some reson I can't find what my clearance will be anywhere online with the 3725x expansion kit. I see the height listed as 36mm on some sites. Does that mean that is the amount of height I get when installed? Most of the 5000mah lipos I've seen are around 38-40mm in height. Can I sand or cut out the supports on the bottom of the esc tray to get a little more room? Anyone recommend a specific lipo meeting the size requirements (138 x 46 x 36mm I guess?)
Thanks for the replys. Can't wait for that 3s power and runtimes.

If you want a great product for a good price from a company with outstanding customer service, I think this is what you want: http://spcracing.com/index.php?productID=113

Edit: I forgot you mentioned hard case. If that is just preference and not really a demand, I'd still go for it. I prefer soft packs because you can see better what is happening with your battery when it comes to damage after a crash or puffing. But it's a personal choice.

So the 3s 5000mah 25c spc will fit with the Expansion kit? Part of the reason I liked the hardcases too was that the cables came out of the top of the battery as opposed to the side. It's kinda hard to tell in the pic but do the cables come out of the side of that specific spc? Will I need to somehow cut a notch out of the tray for the cables? What has everyone done for the cables of the soft case lipos to make them fit?

they fit in mine with no expansion kit, they are in the front for the wires where the notch is already if that helps any.

That would be awesome if it would fit without midification, however my concerns lie with the given dimensions from traxxas and spc. Traxxas says the battery tray is 26mm in height where spc says the lipo is 33.5mm in height. Just trying to get some clarification so I can buy the expansion kit when I buy the lipo so they will arrive at the same time. Anyone have the expansion and can give me an actual measurement of the height it gives you? Anyone have any suggestions where I can pick up some velcro straps to hold the lipo down?

sorry my bad if it a hard case you will need the expansion kit I'm sure. I have the soft ones and do not need it, it's tight but fits with the soft packs.
