verlinion motor, is it a sealed motor?

hey guys, quick qustion. i noticed a few days ago some one posted a thread on sand getting inside his motor, iirc it was the vxl. i thought the verlinion brushless motor was a fully sealed motor. i ask because i drive in very dusty and some what sandy areas and iv never taken apart or cleaned my motor. And iv been driveing it 4 or 5 hours a week for about a year now. every thing seems to be running just fine and all so im not haveing issues other than some heat issues that as far as i can tell is normal but was just wondering if maybe i should clean the motor out? is it likely that sand and or water has gotten in to the motor after a years driveing?is it very complexe or time consumeing to open the motor to clean it? Thanks guys.

I dont know to muck about that motor, but if you are concerned about getting dust in it....i would use one of those co2 keyboard cleaner things..it also makes a great cleaning tool for your chassis.

I would say with that usage and time frame I would pull it apart and do a inspection clean and take a look at your bearings. They still require care just not a much as brushed do.

Yeah, clean the motor and clean the bearing as well, if you know how to do it, and have bearing oil to relube.

To start with it's "velineon" and no it is not sealed so I recommend pulling it apart every 5-6 months or so to blast out any dirt and inspect the bearings
Does more $ = More fun?

i was the person with that problem... i drove it in deep soft sand and had a lose gear case and it got in. but you should definately use compressed air to clean it just to be safe. before it is to late.but you should be fine

There are a lot of videos on youtube for rebuilding that motor or just tearing it down for inspection. Its actually pretty easy. I would take it apart and check it out. Rebuild kit is 10 bucks. Might just do it while you have it apart. I just had to rebuild my first velineon that was 2 and a half years old and had never given it any care at all. One day the shaft side bearing disintegrated and munched a spur gear too.
You'll see if you watch the videos its pretty simple.
