Villan EX to 2.4 is it a ez swap? + more questions

I'm new to Traxxas boats, I currently have a Summit with 2.4 TQ Link 4 channel radio. Can I switch a Villian over to 2.4 using my Summit radio by simply getting a 2.4 Rx? is it plug and play simple?

What batteries come with in the box because I can't get a clear answer from the Traxxas site

At what point do I need to do a water cooler mod?

Is $150 a good price for a slightly used boat?

    TIA

If you hv the newer version of the EX. for 150. is a good deal , Most of the time 2- 7.2v 3000. NiMH batteries & water cooling is a good for keeping the motors cool . If u hv the Villain EX it should already hv the cooling to the esc ? There are some pictures posted on cooling system setups . I've the 2.4 in mine and love it also the 2075 servo , witch make it handle better . Just plug it in . You might hv to re-link it to the esc .

    Thanks rhardy60

I don't have the boat yet... I'm taking of buying a used one. It's the older version with the EVX (water cooled esc) and not EVX2. I don't know if there is a big difference between the two.

What kind of run time can I expect with the 7.2v 3000 with a mix of slow and fast driving?

BTW thanks for the 2.4 advice.

Run time 15 to 20 Min, I posted some pictures of mind running on 16.8v . On 14.4v about 18 mph an on 16.8v about 24 mph . with run time 20 to 25 Min, There are 3 different EVX esc's for the Villain EX , One is red an 2 blue , the newer of the 2 has the easy set button on the off-on switch with Traxxas connections for the batteries .

    Ok thank you rhardy60

I have another question... I've never seen a Villian EX run in person so I'm wondering are they pretty loud? I've only seen youtube videos I can't have a loud boat especially if I like to run a scale speeds (i assume the throttle is proportional)

Check out this ghetto video of a stock Blast http://youtu.be/ZXkBpfYzn9o

Is the Villian EX as loud as this
    TIA

Mine isn't that loud an yes the throttle is proportional as is the steering . Did you check out my action pictures i posted on the Traxxas Villain Picture & Video Gallery ? The Villain EX is alot faster than the Traxxas Blast . Hears a good video of the EX . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMi9C...eature=related

Heck yeah I've seen your cool Villian EX at the gallery I've also seen the video your referenced a few times as well as many many other If I get one I plan to do more scale driving and detail it with figures and stuff. I live in a big city so I don't have room to full throttle that much.
