ESC & Motor Temp.

Hi guys,

What would be the normal temp of the speed control and the motor. I still use the original esc, motor and rudder with one cooling line in and out.
I am going on 6s lipo with 4700mah, so after 15min i am done....

I'd like hearing from you guys!

With stock electronics and one cooling line on 6s you will have temps from 100 to 120 degrees... If you ck the capacitors on top of the esc, temps will be around 140.

Your run time of 15 min on 4700 mah batts is about right...

I would love to know how you are able to get 15 min out of a 4700mah pack! I run a 5500 mah 6s setup on stock electronics and motor and can barely get 10 min. I am at half throttle with full throttle speed runs for most of the time, but 15 is pretty darn good.

Also, capacitor temps of 140F? I ran the other day with an ambient air temp of around 80, and saw a capacitor temp of 270F!! That's ridiculously hot in my opinion and I can not figure out why its so high! I am even running a dual pick up rudder with dedicated lines for motor and ESC and its still that hot. My motor averages around 100-110 and the batteries are typically anywhere from 110-130. I am running the strut in the stock position and batteries about 1/2 way in the range.

What kind of lipo's do you have? Not only the mah's does make the difference also the manufacturer.
What are the outside temps when you are running? Here in Holland I get those temps with about 20 degree Celcius

I am running 6s 25C 5500mah 3s packs x 2, of the Gens Ace Brand. I also run the same brand in my EDF jets with no issues like the high heat I am seeing in the Spartan ESC. Outside temps are normally 70-85F, which isnt too bad.

I just ran in 90F heat and reach low voltage cutoff at 5 min! what is everyone else getting out of a 5500 mah 3s pack?

Just took my boat out for the first time and got to run in a big lake . I am running stock elec. and 2x3s gens ace 5000 mah and after about ten min and on the middle of the lake ..... Dead. The boat just stopped. When I got her and opened her up it turns out the wires on the esc and one of the batteries came undone. This sucks first day out . Any ideas on what to do to solve this problem I don't want to go through this again Thank in advance.

The melting point of the solder on the stock connectors is too low. Try cutting the wires and resoldering with some quality solder and you should be good to go. Higher quality solder should have a much higher melting point.
