    Monster Jam VXL

    Question...

Why doesnt Traxxas offer a VXL product line for the Monster Jam lineup?

Also, why not offer 4 wheel drive?

    Sometimes i wish i worked in marketing...LOL.

Well, they wanted to keep prices down, so brushed. And you can easily make your own 4x4 version. Step 1: Buy a Stampede 4x4. Step 2: Add Monster Jam wheels and tires. Step 3: Add a M.J. shell and BOOM! If Grave Digger, add green parts.
    Only 70 MPH? MORE LIPO!!!!

While this is pretty accurate, it's not a direct "put the body on the p4de chassis." The body post do not line up at all on the Digger, at least. You will need to make your own body mount setup. I just did this for my son. Nice project, bought some RPM green parts. Here's a link to my build. http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...4x4-VXL-part-2...

I totally get what your saying and i know it can be done, but the average person who buys one of these trucks wants it a Monster Jam truck from the start. They wont want to deal with finding the parts, spending the extra money, and hoping that everyone fits right.

The way i see it is that there is a VXL option for most/all of the electric trucks and buggies that Traxxas offers. But for some reason they dont offer it for the Monster Jam series. Were they trying to keep cost down thinking that Monster Jam fans make less money than fans of other RC vehicles? Or were they trying to target younger kids and keep the truck more on the tame side and also cut the cost down? I havent the foggiest.

And Traxxas could of easily used the 4wd version of the stampede for the base of the Monster Jam trucks.

So, my question to Traxxas is...why?

Totally forgot about the 1/16th scale GD. I think upgrading it to 4wd is less than $50. I originally bought the Monster Jam Grave Digger, but after a Titan failure after about 5 full pack NiMH runs, having to go get it unstuck when it high centers. I just bought a roller p4de and converted it with the green bumpers, wheelie bar, body that I already had.

I'd also say it has to do with the target audience, probably kids. Parents might consider getting a $225 Monster Jam as the first RC truck more than spending $425 which is probably what a 4wd Monster Jam on the p4de platform would be. And just my opinion, I think part of this hobby is creating your own ride with parts from other vehicles. A sort of "one off" project. I know those are usually my favorite to read/look at pics of. The fact that with a little time/creativity, using alot of Traxxas parts for other vehicles, you can do this. I even wish Traxxas would have more DIY project vehicles instead of RTR.

I agree, but they have the 1/16 Grave Digger now which i would consider the entry level version. Traxxas kind of dropped the ball on this one. They should of released the 1/16th version and the 1/10th version at the same time. Allowing younger fans to use the 1/16th version and then offer a 4wd VXL version with the 1/10th version.
