I fried my Mamba Monster ESC

I fried my MM ESC last night. My motor wasnt turning when I pulling the throttle, then my ESC starting to smoke. So I quickly unplug my batteries and motor. Has this happened to many others? I am trying to figure out if it would be worth it to send it to Castle Creations. I bought my Erevo used so I dont know how old it is.

You can still send it in & just pay the $75 ~ $80 for a replacement..ESC
    Is the motor locked up?
Would you go flip my truck back over??

The motor was hooked up when it smoked, but i quickly unplugged my lipos and motor. Could the motor have gotten damaged? The motor didnt smoke, but smelt like that fried electronics. Hopefully the motor didnt get damaged.

I can still turn the motor by hand, with that slight resistane I got before. Does that mean the motor isnt damaged?

We've smoked 4 of them over here. All under warranty which is easy, but paying shipping is getting rediculious. Stock Emaxx, stock batteries and they burn up randomly.

Hobbywings 150a are pretty darn smooth for a non sensored esc. Haven't tried the xeruns.

That burnt smell will last awhile. Yummy!

Same thing happened to me a few days ago. I bought a new ESC and made my gearing less agressive. Went from 22/60 to 22/65. So far so good!
I've made a habbit of monitoring temps now.

Im using Telemetry - what is the temperature you would consider to be "safe"? I think the default alarm is 160 degrees.

It still has to be shipped to me, I havent gotten a chance to use it yet. Have you tried reading the manual? That's about all I can say.

Which ESC are you using? Because I am talking about using a Tekin not a Mamba Monster.

Is the 2050kv a buggy or truggy motor? I think the 4038 series are the truggy motors. Im hoping to get the 4038 2000kv motor when funds are available. What size batteries are you using? What cell count? Im thinking of getting some SPC 5400mah 50c 2c lipos.

Yeah the 2050kv is a truggy/buggy motor. I have the system in a Nitro Revo converted with Tekno kit. Im actually running 4s for just playin in the yard which are Gens ace 5000 mah 40c 2s hardcase lipos. Those run amazing for the yard and dirt but when it comes to the insane speed runs Im running 6s which are ***** 5000 mah 45c 3s lipos. Those batteries are just insane!

If I were you I would send it back to castle. The same thing happened to me and it didn't cost me a dollar. They sent me a new esc and a prepaid packing slip to send back the burnt up one. Even if you don't want to use it, replace it and sell it.

I already did, just waiting for them to get more stock. Im thinking I am going to sell it when I get it. I bought a Tekin RX8 from eBay, I will probably get the Tekin before I get my Mamba Monster. I am probably going to get the Tekin 4038 2000kv motor with money I get when I sell my Mamba Monster.
