    Progressive Springs?

Anyone who uses the progressive springs or has used them, how do you like them? When they are not compressed are they still stiffer or softer than the stock springs? I'm sure they are stiffer than the stock springs once they are compressed. I use Trinity Black (stiff) springs now and am looking to gain a little traction and make the truck not bounce so much. I have added 45wt shock oil to both front and rear and it has helped alot but the smallest bumps or tree roots will send the truck on two wheels.

On a side note, has anyone dyed the springs? If so what did you use and was there any special routine to make it permanent?

No there's lots of people that use the white progressive springs.

Then again there are many (including me) that think they are still to soft for the Maxx truck.

I started a thread about spring rate here.

I can't speak for everyone, but I along with many others here use RC Raven dual rate springs and I would definitely suggest them. I believe they work on the same principle as the Traxxas springs, so you should be able to use those with good results. This may not be true of the Traxxas springs but the RC Raven springs are stiffer from the uncompressed state and keeps getting stiffer throughout the stroke of the shock.

I am running 35wt right now with two hole pistons and no preload spacers in the front with one medium-large one in the rear. It is setup for lighter terrain and small jumps. If you want some more air time and/or have rough terrain I would go up to 45-50wt oil.

I feel like when I switched to MGT dual rate springs, the truck doesn't squat as much on hard acceleration (this is a positive result of the dual rate), or wheelie for that matter. Should this effect wheelies? Over all, I like em. RC Raven springs are good as well.

Many have used the Traxxas Progressives who bash and they like them. I've not heard any real complaints when they are set up with the correct oil wt. Also RCRaven Progressives are very decent...

Now you won't hear me say this often, but there's one of the few things Integy makes decent is their progressive spring packs. It gives you an assortment of springs for you to tune your ride the way you like.

    Some suspension tips.

    1. Springs are used to set firmness, not preload spacers.
    2. Shock oil sets the rebound rate/speed of the shocks (too fast with too light oil it will be bouncy and want to roll, too slow with too heavy an oil your wheels will not maintain traction and you will spin out when applying power).
    3. Preload spacers are used to fine tune your ride height with a side affect of addinf some firmness but reducing travel....

Comparing notes is fine to a point, but if you learn the basics about suspension setup you will get yourself dialed in. NO 2 trucks are the same with just a change of your tires, no 2 drivers drive the same way or attack a jump the same way. So suspension settings can be somewhat tricky by going off of someone elses EXACT setup.

Thanks for all the info. I have come to the conclusion my truck is way to stiff so I'm going to try some stuff and see what happens.
