Big Bores arrived, I have some questions

They came with progressive springs. Are they better on the pede then the linear stock ones?

I assume the oil that came with them is 30w, like the stock ultras. Is installing them in the same position as the stock recommended, or should I change the position.

progressives sucked, way under sprung. Put the stock linears on, and the big bore shocks are a smaller diameter then the ultra's, so they don't fit right.

I really hope they are worth the hassle.

You might search the pede 2x4 forum. Hate to tell you some guys say they're not an "upgrade" at all because of the smaller diameter and I think something about the o rings? Like smaller holes in them or something. I have some of them because I kept blowing up my stockers. Personally I didn't notice any big difference. They still do their job. But come to think of it they're on my 2x4s; lighter vehicles for sure.
Check BaldyDaniels "this may come as a SHOCK to some of you" thread on the 2x4 forum. It has some useful info he's a pretty knowledgeable dude.

They are essentially the same shock do use the same position and switch to 50-60 weight oil. If you have springs from stock shocks use those.

I bought them for toughness. The ultras worked great for me, but I tend to go full stupid and break things. When I break something, I want to make it so it doesn't break again, because cutting my bash time short makes me

Well they are tough for sure. I have yet to even blow a cap on the ones I use. I wrapped the threads with 1 or 2 passes of 1/4 inch teflon tape and I have jumped my 1:1 truck with the p2de they're on and not lost a cap. Definitely durable.
