how many of you running stock slider axles? Are the summit ones stronger??

How many of you guys run stock traxxas slider axle shafts ??
and just replace when they wear out or break??
They are so cheap on e-bay 20.00 for set of 4. I dont lke the way the shock cups rub on them but maybe a washer under the shock mount will help with that.
I seem to have read somwhere on e-maxx forum that the new summit ones are the strongest?? Does anybody use these??

I use the stock ones but I personally thimk that the ones stock are better. Hope this Helped!!

I've used stock for a while and only tore up two in the last year. Probably due to the slider getting stuck & hammering the throttle on 6S.

I used to either break a stock axle or diff every run. Now 1/8 scale diffs and MIPs. Holds up awesome now.

I only break stock drive shafts when I am still on the throttle when I hit the ground after a jump

If your using RPM A-arms or another A-arm that has only one mounting tab then a washer on the bottom between the shock and the mount tab does push the spring and cup away from the axle enough to clear… Except when there is some warping from hard jumping or twisting from high torque.



I decided to go with the steel CVDs because the stock plastic yokes were starting to flex and under a load, I thought it was only a matter of time before the broke. Also I got a rock jammed between the A-arm and the plastic axle, it didn't freeze up the axle but just completely shredded the rubber boot and ground down the splines to a point the shaft would not push in or out of the other.

I snapped the coupler or whatever you call it on the yokes, the part that connects to the cross pin. I did one first on the center driveshaft, so I upgraded to the Traxxas steel ones. Then I did exactly the same thing to the wheel driveshaft. Only just tonight got it running again after 2 months of not using it, again I went with the steel traxxas cvd model (5451R).

Next up is the 1/8 FLM diffs and chasis. Then I think it should be pretty bullet proof. Have UE shocks on their way over from the US (going with 4 shock setup) which is good considering when I was replacing the cvd's I found 3 of the shocks were bent and one shock the ball end on the shock is nearly entirely snapped off, only a few mm of plastic is preventing it from falling off completely. I also replaced the axle carriers with the Tekno RC model, man they are nice and I love the aluminium retainers to prevent the plastic from blowing out which is what happen to my standard ones.

By the end of all this, I think the only original Emaxx parts that will be left will be the motor / esc, receiver, servos and wheel hexes, otherwise every part of the truck will be FLM / Traxxas hop up. Even then after driving it this evening I have noticed after so long of not driving it having driven my 1/10 touring car I race and my short course truck I plan on racing soon, I found the steering really slow the turning circle awful, especially when my short course truck just dances from turn to turn; and that was on the standard wheel / tyres, the Axial 8 spoke beadlocks with Big Joes are going to a real struggle for the standard servos I think. So I may consider upgrading servo yet and replacing the receiver to go with my Futaba 4pks as going back to the standard transmitter after using the 4pks feels so springy and detached.
