I will post some pictures of my build and the repair of a few broken plastic parts along the way. This is my first R/C car so it might take awhile to get this thing together. Any tips to get it apart or back together are appreciated.

yea I was going to trythat same setup but he doesnt have any ESC in stock
one thing I notice u using the tools that came with kit .. if you grab screw driver kit in those sizes makes taking and putting together alot quicker and easier IMO

I meant to pick a set of the tools up before I started today. I will have to do that tomorrow.

Finally was able to take the bulkhead off. I noticed that on the bulkhead itself there is some type of grease/lubricant. Should I be putting some type of grease/lubricant inside of the gearbox/bulkhead assembly before putting it back together? The alan wrenches point to the grease/lubricant build up in the following picture:

I should have known things were moving too smoothly. Was trying to get the screw on the motor mount out in order to uninstall the RPM sensor and I stripped the screw. I'm calling it a night.
Final picture of the night:

why did you take the front end off? was something broken or just maintanence work ? didnt think you need to do that to mount the bracket and motor
XO-1,SLASH 4X4 ,SLASH 2WD , 2/RUSTLER
from the pictures, it looks like the front of the chassis exploded and needed replacing.
"Red"
"Who wants a Rod that you cant Mod?!"
I broke the bulkhead when I wrecked.
XO-1+Wind=(XO-1+Curb)x2=Me-XO-1=Me+Slash 4x4
now i gotta go double check mine cuz I have looked that far in yet lol
XO-1,SLASH 4X4 ,SLASH 2WD , 2/RUSTLER
Heat that motor mount up to melt the loc-tight before trying to remove that screw again.
props for having an Xo-1 as your first R/C... i was wondering, could i borrow $800?
Slash 2wd Vxl; Crash and learn
cool, my primary means of transport is a longboard soo...

you get this thing together yet ?

So is this build going to include an optional skateboard deck and use of valvesprings on the shocks to keep it from bottoming under the weight of a person? Put together a liquid cooling system like that other guy on here, gear it low low and you're good to go go. XO-1 has about 6.5hp so you could ride it to work, do speedruns at lunch and ride it home!
XO-1, Roadrunner Slash
It's about the size of a big skateboard.
Haven't had time to work on it since the night I started this thread. This week doesn't look too promising either.
XO-1+Wind=(XO-1+Curb)x2=Me-XO-1=Me+Slash 4x4
Hey mate have you made any progress on this build???
No, I still haven't had time.
XO-1+Wind=(XO-1+Curb)x2=Me-XO-1=Me+Slash 4x4
Put the bulkhead together, but still waiting for a new RPM sensor. Installed the taller battery holders, but my batteries are still too tall and wide so I will need to find another way to strap them down.
XO-1+Wind=(XO-1+Curb)x2=Me-XO-1=Me+Slash 4x4
Ouch! Thats something else that this is your FIRST rcCool though.. Take ur time, and look at diagrams... Those help alot. Id do a count, and order whats needed and go from there.

I have the new sensor, but now I am waiting on some battery straps. This is almost as bad as waiting for parts for a real car. Nothing ever goes as planned.
XO-1+Wind=(XO-1+Curb)x2=Me-XO-1=Me+Slash 4x4
so true, tell me about it. I HATE WAITING!!!!!!!
Received parts, but still having issues installing them. I am beginning to wish I left the car alone.
XO-1+Wind=(XO-1+Curb)x2=Me-XO-1=Me+Slash 4x4
relax, lay an old towel on the coffee table, get the wrenches, put on a good movie may I recommend Tombstone, and slowly go at it. Hit pause when you have to go to the garage or fridge or bathroom. Keeps me from putting it all in a garbage bag and labeling it 6/20/2012 and sticking it in the garage until I feel like getting angry again :P
What issues are you having bringit and can you put up some pictures
Look at the bright side you could of possibly crashed and had to fixed it several times by now.
lol love "Bazookas' label comment .. thought I was only one ..
dont feel bad bring it , have had a brand new roller xl2 got everything ready togo except 2 matching 4S batteries and its been sittin like that for a month and my other xo1 hasnt seen no play time in over 3 weeks lol but like BLBOB said atleast its one peice haha
XO-1,SLASH 4X4 ,SLASH 2WD , 2/RUSTLER
Still upset with this car, actually I'm torqued off and in the red zone like Vincent Vega. Should have left it alone.

what happen now ??? how them escs working out for ya ?
XO-1,SLASH 4X4 ,SLASH 2WD , 2/RUSTLER
Finally got over my main roadblock. Working on installing the ESC finally. It's not going to be pretty.
XO-1+Wind=(XO-1+Curb)x2=Me-XO-1=Me+Slash 4x4
Are you running xl2? Do you have the mounting kit?
XL2 without a mounting kit right now because I don't know if the wires on the motor are long enough to connect with the ESC if it's using that ESC mounting kit. Waiting on some measurements. In the meantime I am working on my own.
XO-1+Wind=(XO-1+Curb)x2=Me-XO-1=Me+Slash 4x4
You will save yourself alot of time, effort, frustration, and stripped screws if you pick up a proper set of hex drivers. those allen wrenches are ok for a screw here and there but a partial disassembly goes alot easier with a set of tools.
Pay It Forward.
