You should get some wider tires road rage won't be able to handle a bb

If its only on road get some speed hawgs and hpi ss monster rims but you will probably have to trim the bumper

Not going bb until next winter. My merv is only 4 months old. I havent even ran lipos yet. Tires are next on my list. Just want to make sure they will work.

I do mostly on road with some light gravel and dirt here and there. I just want a simi durable tire. From the looks of it the road rage will last the longest.

If you get Road Rage tires, I would get the Road Rage II. Those are wider and work better than the older Road Rages. My first Road Rage tires did nothing else but slip.

Lol. I had Dirt Hawgs, Road Rage and Road Rage II. Dirt Hawgs are pretty decent allrounders. Both the Road Rages are useless off road.

So agreeing on both is no contradiction

Best tires IMO: get some Dirt Hawgs and HPI2196 wheels. I've had many different tires and these are the best, other than foams.

You will if you have ballooning problems, but I think that I had to cut mine down to fit Speed Hawgs. Speed Hawgs look great, but dirt hawgs are honestly much better. Use the 1" Gorilla Tape from Home Depot or similar store to strap the tires and take your time and exercise patience while gluing. It's very easy to ruin a gluing job by not properly seating the bead of the tire in the wheel.

Spot on. For onroad and light dirt get the Dirt Hawg I buggy rear tires Proline part #107100

They are not perfect on any surface but decent to good on most surfaces. This makes them the perfect allround tyre imho.
The compund is very durable/long lasting. I run my first set for almost a year now and they only started to wear a bit recently when i begun to run 3S lipos.

For gearing, I suggest to start with 50/23 (thats the inluded silver "speed" pinion, that makes your electronics run cooler) and work from there.
If your temps on motor/esc are ok, you can try 50/28 (original gearing, the black pinion).

I run them with a TBone front bumper, no need to trim with Dirt Hawgs, but anything bigger you will need to shave off a bit on the left and right on the bumper.

thanks. that makes me not second guess my self. im getting the hpi mesh wheels with dirt hawgs. im thinking that im just going to use the fishing line taping method. seems like the tape wont hold up.

The fishing line won't work well on dirt hawgs, since their tread doesn't have "straight lines" all the way around. The Gorilla tape will work very well, I assure you.

the hpi 2140 are even wider offset fit the same as the mesh but 10.5" wide from outside tire to tire with the dirt hawgs

I have a question: Has anyone ever tried closed foam inserts for the tires?
Like the Proline 1/10 Closed Cell Buggy Rear Inserts/. Any benefit in these, i could not decipher their marketing speech on the description?

I have the closed cell foams! I got them because they're perfectly balanced, not terribly expensive, and don't absorb water. They can be reused as long as they remain intact. They can't be used with speed hawgs or road hawgs because their shape won't support those tires well enough. They're perfect for dirt hawgs and calibers and such.
