Question burning thru ESC's - Will Traxxas Warranty them?

    Setup:

    1/16th VXL Mustang
    MERV Suspension setup
    Pinion Upgraded (supplied with car)
    3s 25c 11.1v 1400mAh Traxxas LiPo
    1/10th Scale Offroad Tires

Would the wheel/tire upgrade cause the load to burn up the ESC?

get a smaller pinion gear to help with the stress.
All I need now is to set a new lap record.

Have you taken any temperature readings? I have found 3s to be a bit much. They can be used but you have to be careful. Larger tires can definitely cause more stress all around.
You can drive my car, but there's a $500 deposit.

on my KB rally with the stock tires mine would get so hot i could not touch it, went to a 24/50 set up and now its warm to the touch after 4 mins of racing with sticky tires

What gearing are you running, and what size are the tires you are using? If you are running the optional pinion that came with the Mustang, and the stock spur gear you would be running 31t pinion/45t spur, and that will burn up an esc with stock size tires on 3s. The recommended gearing rom traxxas would be 23t/50t.

You should be running a 50t or 55t spur and probably an 18t - 23t spur depending on the size and weight of your wheel and tire setup.

When I had my Merv I ran 23/55 gearing on 2s with 3.8" tall tires and had no heat issues, but with 3s you will want a smaller pinion, especially if you have heavy rims(beadlocks) or taller tires. If your tires are more than 4" tall you should do the tranny gear flip to get the temps in check.
