My Revo 3.3 to Brushless project is finally complete!!!

I've been converting my 3.3 to brushless over the last couple of months and now my much anticipated project has reached the end, pheeeew. So just thought i'd share the end product with you guys. I used the Tekno conversion kit along with a Mamba Monster 2200kv/ ESC combo. Had a little run with it in the back garden earlier and first impressions are very good, now i'm looking forward to a proper run over a field to see what this beast has got

Yeah a single 4s, seems quite pokey off the mark, will see what it has full throttle tomorrow!

A brushless convert for life now...

I haven't adjusted any ESC settings yet, gonna do that in a bit before i take it out on a proper run 'cause i don't know if the lipo 3v cut-off setting is automatically applied plus i wanna adjust the punch for more grunt . MY gearing is 18/40 with tranny locked into 2nd gear.

Yeah but i just decided after reading the manual that i'm gonna take it out for run first before i adjust anything as the default settings sound like a good basis to start from. I will be launching this beast in T-Minus 2 hours! Fingers crossed i don't break anything

The first thing I would do is link up the castle link and bump up the lvc. Not required thow just piece of mind.

The defualt lvc is 3.2v each cell according to the manual so i'm happy with that

it's better for your batteries to go 3.4v and it won't impact run time much at all in my experience.... if one cell discharges faster than the others that extra .2 volts could save your pack....3.2 volts is the absolute safe minimum for a lipo cell.

If i left the lvc @ 3.2v and one cell discharged quicker then the rest by say 0.2v, wouldn't the ESC cut off the whole battery? Basicially what i mean is, wouldn't it cut off as soon as the first cell in the battery pack reaches the lvc?

no, you set the volt per cell but it actually measures the total voltage, i.e. 3.2 times 3 cells, theoritically cuts off at 9.6. The balance tap(wire) doesn't connect to the revo. So, the problem is, the cells could be 3, 3.3, 3.3, which would also equal 9.6volts.

well, the first run didn't go too good, i stripped the stock output gear in my gearbox within 2 minutes so i replaced it with another stock gear and loosened the slipper but it happened again. After a bit of research i realised this was a common problem and by installing the FOC kit, it would sort it.... Soooooo i finally received the FOC through the post 2 days ago and finally got to install it and take the beast out today.... It's been a few hours since i took it out and the only thing i can say is... I'm still smiling

I forgot about the FOC. I guess it only makes sense since there is no need for a mechanical shifting mechanism to go in reverse anymore. I'll be running 4s aswell. I'm still trying to decided it I want to go 1800kv with a larger pinion or 2200kv with a small pinion. On that note, 18/40 sounds a bit wheelie happy. Do you have to make a lot of effort to prevent the wheelies. I like to do wheelies only when I want to.

I was originally running 17/40 but I stripped the 40 so now I'm running 17/38 because I had it spare in my toolbox but I prefer it as I get a higher top speed. I control the ability to wheelie by tightening/ loosening the slipper clutch. I'd recommend a wheelie bar though if you haven't already got one or you run the risk of ruining your wing (if you have one) or back flipping (if you don't have one)
