I bought two of the new E Maxx diffs for $34.00 shipped on EBay. Their a bolt in and should hold up and if you blow one it's about $17.00 to replace the unit.
The E Maxx 3903, 05, and 08 diffs have internal bracing so those are the best choice.

    $350.00 for a couple diffs

I have two pairs of the 6-spiders and the only thing I've had to do to them in 5 years is replace the bearings.

Go on Fleabay and grab yourself bonafide 3908 diffs... NO OTHERS!! Should cost you about $17 a pop and definitely your best bet.. Spider 6 UE ultralights gearing will slow your truck considerably and are NOT completely bulletproof...

those look good suteki. i opened one up last night and there were no striped grears but the lub in the carryer basket was realy realy paisty. it must of got gunked up from the gravel pits we were in. i could see the diff not working if on side of it would become more seazed up from the pasty grease.

3905,3903,3908 diffs if you want inexpensive upgrade.
Some you can mod yourself (LST2diffs) for not much more.
I don't see the need for the really expensive ones.

Are the TMaxx 4907 diffs. the same as the 3908? I had to replace both diffs. in my 3908 due to the input shaft bearings failing, both in the same week and the truck is only a few months old. Is this a common issue?

No the brushless/ready maxx's has the I-bar for support and uses a different diff carrier.
The Tmaxx's don't have the I-bar support, because of the different diff carrier it won't fit.
Double check in the exploded views first but i'm sure thats right.
but if you have the 4907 diffs, I don't know how much the new carrier is, maybe a few dollars.

The diff. assembly I just installed in the front an hour ago from EBay says it was pulled from a 3.3 TMaxx.

yep mine is too a new carrier and parts is less than £4. I need new gaskets as my fluid has emptied out after checking yesterday. #3978.
The emaxx has the stronger of the diffs.

Yes, when I instal new diffs I replace that inner pinion bearing with an aftermarket bearing.

Changing that inner pinion bearing and shimming the diffs should net you some longer run times in between diff rebuilds.

As Bent pointed out, they need to be shimmed. They are actually pretty good when shimmed. I blew the front diff in the first fortnight. I don't think the outdrives from the spider gears are such a problem, it's the pinion and ring gear that are the culprits. Shim the pinion so the center driveshafts are nice and snug and the pinion has a good hold of the ring gear and you'll greatly decrease the chances of any problems. I always run 6S and since shimming haven't had a problem.

Also, get off the throttle when coming down off jumps as that just shock loads the pinion up the ring gear and it'll go bang real quick.

Well, I wouldn't know about the UE Ultralights....
But surely the FLM Hybrid Bulks using 1/8 scale diffs, be it HPI diffs, Caster Racing diffs or other brand, are as bullotproof as they get, even a 6s no worries - it's proven in many builds.
And surely it doesn't slow down the truck - it's all about the right gearing and your topspeed is the same as using the stock diff.

Very true, I'm running the stock diffs in my ERBE and even running on 4s I've blown out a few. I have the UE Ultralites in 2 of my Maxx's and Hot Bodies diffs with Hybrids in a third and they've held up great running everything from 6s brushless to .28 nitro. Most 1/8th scale diffs are geared lower but using a larger pinion or smaller spur will give you the same top speed so they don't slow your truck considerably.
