    TRaxxas Rustler Lost Controller!

hey i've got one of those traxxas rustler's it was a stadium model that was at my parents for like the past 4 years and hasn't been used. It looks like she recovered the body and charger, but my controller will be lost forever. How would i go about finding a controller to use with this thing? I was browsing around online but I haven't been in the RC game for awhile now. anyways any help would be great, and I can't wait to get it in the mail on monday! hopefully everything's working out alright then i'll start maybe replacing some stuff!

A used controller is cheap$$$. You will have to see what crystal is in the reciever. You will need the same one in the new controller you get.

It probably wouldnt hurt to just take the truck apart and inspect everything and relube it. I'd check out the axle carriers and see if there is any binding. See if they need to be cleaned up. If you still have wheel bushing, it woulnt be a bad idea to move up to bearings if that hadnt been done. Check your shocks see if they still rebound smoothly and that they still have oil in them. The tranny could use some attention to, clean out the old grease and replace with some fresh, same with the diff. This is what I would do. But you could run it and see how good she feels.

    Hope this helps ya.

Just make sure the controller you buy has the same color crystal as the reciever. Even if it is not traxxas it should work.

Yeah you can pick up crystals from your local lhs, or even go 2.4 if you want less interference. Look on ebay for the top qualifier transmitter.

Also check out the rustler forum for some good ideas for upgrades and mods you may want to try on yours. RCs have come a long way in a short time. You will probably also need to pick up some batteries and a newer charger those have also come a long way in the last few years.

Edit- with the crystals make sure you use the tx one in the transmitter and the rx one in the receiver.

I'd buy a new or used Traxxas TQ 2.4 (transmitter and receiver) off the Market Place here, or on fleabay for cheap. It's a good, basic system and will drop right in your truck.

If your looking for an awesome controller, for an awesome price, go witht the Flysky GT3B. Its terrific, and has been purchased by alot of these guys. I have two, and have been using one for a long time.... Its never skipped a beat. Im real happy with it

Best of all, Its under 40 bucks from HobbyPartz.com.. Check it out...

No matter what u pick, this is a great time to go to 2.4ghz. Dont feel like u have to stay with 27mhz, its glitches, and giant antenna any longer. Go with 2.4 and Its tiny antennas, and non-interference and ul never look back.

Btw... I had my Stampede sit in the closet for 10 years, than one day pulled it out of the closest, blew off the dust, went to hobby store, and it was all over from there. Hooked again for life.

One mo thing Theres a Rustler forum ya should probably post question about in the future As similar as vehicles they are.

We are still kind enough to help ya though. That's the way we RoCk over here. If you are in the market for a a new Tx though, like LooT said the FS GT3B is a great choice on a budget. I run one also and it hasnt skipped a beat. If you are on an even tighter budget and dont need a fancy screen they have the GT2 that is another excellent choice. It comes in multiple color if you can find in stock. A couple of other good 2.4ghz upgrades for the $50 range are the TQ 2.4 Link, or the newest TQi base model. I run all these and they are really good stock controllers. One good thing about moving away from the old TQ is you dont have the '3 story tall' antenna on the Tx/Rx. LOL

BTW glad to see ya back in the habit.

I forgot about the flysky radios. I have two of them and the extra receivers are about $7. I like em, but to get free shipping you have to buy more than $50
