#of cells in nimh

How many cells are in traxxas nimh 1200 mah? My charger is getting errors. I tried at 1 cell 1200 mah but i dont think thats right. Can i charge 2 at a time with the parallel connector and just double the mah setting in my charger?

There are 6cells in a stock nimh pack. Some say you can charge them together but they need to have the same charge rate. I wouldnt do it. Seems like it would be asking for problems.

you can only charge 1 series 1 battery at 1.2amps only no higher, when charging at 1.2amps the battery will not live a long life though. i would not and highly suggest not to charge 2 batteries at all. not safe as far as nimh goes, lipo are a different story though.

my nimh batteries have doubled or maybe tripled their life expectancy and they're always charged at 2 amps, a few times I've charged at 4 amps.

They have a little over 100 runs on them and still go as strong as nimhs can go for 20 mins in parallel, then they slow down (I admit they used to be able to go for 30 minutes but come on 100+ runs). I don't get all this talk about how to charge nimhs when it seems to be more about how you store them. Also letting them cool down before and after charging/running plays a huge part as well as letting them return to room temp before and after refrigerating.

just charge at 1.2 to be safe
let the batteries return to room temp before and after charging/running
store at a 100% full charge and by store I mean use ziploc bags and the fridge as often as possible

then get lipo and run the nimhs into the dirt!

You store your batteries in the fridge like I do. When I brought that up a while back nobody had heard of that

lol yeah man it helps big time with Nimh, they start to lose their charge quickly.

Lipos you don't have to worry about nearly as much but I'd throw both types in the freezer if I didn't plan on using them for over a month.. but who does that letting an RC sit that long should be a crime

Yep and with lipos any temp over 70 degrees you start losing capacity although very little

i want to program my thunder ac6 charger for my 2 batteries. i got my lipo set up just fine but what is the voltage of the nimh so i can program that in. i think its the peak voltage

It should say right on the battery, it's 7.2

Just saying its a myth that 4s will make your system go faster than 12 nimh cells. The system has a 50krpm, limiter on it.

3s or 10 cells is the most you can run without significant power loss.
