New E-revo Brushless out twice - broken both times

Needless to say I haven't had much luck with my new e-revo brushless. However it's awesome when it's working - rarely so far. Today the rear axle broke - it appears to be part number 5382X (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Traxxas-5382...item5ae69da33b / the metal broke connecting the two). My question to everyone is... since I'll have the rear dif pulled out should I upgrade to something that won't come appart so easily? If so, what should I be purchasing?

    Thanks in advance,

    Lance

I had the same problem, till I recently added Summit axles. Drove it like I stole it and all axles held up. This truck should come with summit axles

What are summit axles? You mean driveshafts?

He's talking about Summit drive axles ... in my book the driveshafts are the shafts connecting the diffs to the transmission and the drive axles are connecting the diffs to the wheels.

Use the summit shafts. They are a better and cheaper upgrade than any cvd or metal shaft. Entire sets can be had for about 50$/set. Long shafts are preferred but shorts work just fine too.

If your diff is opened up already, it generally wont hurt to add a shim in there too.

In addition, get a castle link and tone down the punch control. You will keep breaking parts till you either do this or learn throttle control. We all had to learn this, most of us the hard way.

Many thanks for all the great responses. Interesting about the throttle response, I'm certainly learning the hard way - annoyingly so... any way you could send me links to both the summit shafts I should go with & the castle link?

    Thanks again everyone!

You can buy a set of Summit shafts at most any of the ebay chop shops......just search Summit Driveshafts in the search box.

Here is a link to the "link". http://www.castlecreations.com/produ...stle_link.html

I may have missed it, but what batteries are you running.......4s, 5s or 6s?

I’m not necessarily recommending this guy just showing you the actual shafts. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Traxxas-5607...item2ebe18ad3e

It appears that part number 5382X (http://traxxas.com/explodedviews/560...HzDocking-Base) snapped which holds the shafts in place. Is there anything more sturdy to use than the stock configuration? I'm surprised it broke... more work to do... I never took a rear diferential apart - this should be interesting. It appears you have to take a bunch of parts off the truck to get too it - can anyone confirm?

    Thanks,

    Lance

You have to remove the rear bulkhead from the chassis to get to the diff. It's not easy the first couple of times you do it. But once you get the hang of it, it is pretty straight forward.

Is this what you're recommending (http://www.castlecreations.com/produ...le_link.html)? If so, does it have custom programs to plug into your car? How does it work?

    Thanks,

    Lance
