Thank you, many thanks. I get alot of compliments on the house. Now that my 3 sons are in colledge though, its just me and my wife and the house is a little bit big. Gardening just the backyard is like gardening a whole house, it so big.
Just finished putting solar panels in for the pool, let's hope they work ok.
I'm gonna need a spoon pic.

Rudeness is the weak man's imitation of strength.
House prices in Sydney are substantially more expensive than in the US...AUD $1M (US $1M) doesn't buy much in comparison
Well yeah its all about location. I'm sure that the values of homes in Los Angeles, Sydney, and other densely populated areas are comparable.
Did a quick search and this was the cheapest one I saw. Look what you get for $785k lol

I bet that home was valued at $1m or more when the market was at its peak.

You'd like to think that's the case. The Demographia International Housing Affordability Survey tells it differently
Sydney median price is $637600 & median income of $69400
LA median price is $324800 & median income of $57300
There's a bit more to it but Sydney is expensive, in the top 5 least affordable places to live in the world depending in most results. Wish it wasn't, I'd like a waterfront home!
Umm, averages take this into account. That's what an average price is.
Sydney has $20M+ properties
through to $50k properties but the average is $637600
Have a look here if you're interested http://www.domain.com.au/
You've never been to Sydney...most people don't have any water views, let alone direct access. Visitors to Sydney think that everyone has a boat or a beach at the bottom of their garden. Less than 1% of Sydney residents have this
Edit: Sydney is geographically large - 12,145 km2 (4,689 sq mi) if you believe Wiki

man I thought prices here in Alabama was high. lol a nice house like downtown house will run you about $150000 to $250000 depending to how much land and where it is located. my house does not look like any of these. I have a 3 bedroom 3 bath with 2 car work shop and 10 acres of land. I gave $30000. my cousin got a divorce and couldn't afford it. and diggerpede mine looks like yours but I have two. lol
My house (not mine, I am 13 lol), is a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath. It is based around a central "pillar" if you will, it is hard to explain. Basically there is a 10 ft wide square in the middle of the house, with stairs on one side and a bathroom in the other. We have our pantry, and coat closet in it. Upstairs, we have a bathroom right at the top. Two bedrooms on each side of the stairs. Two car garage, and a 4 ft. by 4 ft. baby blue folding table for a workbench... That will be upgraded here this summer. Out back, we have a two story shed with the top floor converted into a hangout space with come lawn chairs and a solar light.

Speaking of living by the water, this is where I live:
And yes that is a gigantic parking lot that is almost always empty.
