CC 2400 gets hot when geared up

I would like a bit more speed and use a 20 or 22/50 setup on 4s.
About 175 after 3/4 of 4s 5000mah 35c pack. I see and hear guys doing it all the time and higher gearing and saying they have no issues. I use the venom adapter that came with my batteries. Is that my weak link? Wires and adapter stay cool. This is with all speed runs no grass or dirt. Is my excessive wheel spin on pavement contributing? I am trying to not mash the throttle to much on startup. Should i turn down punch control a bit? I have it turned down a touch now 90% power.

IMO that gearing is too much for 4s, probrably for 3s, and still seems kind of high, 18 -19 / 54 is a good setup.

If you are just doing speed runs take the body off

Agree with being over geared and 19/54 being about the safe limit

    Castle's recommended gearing 14/54 - 42 mph

    19/54 - 55 mph
    22/50 - 71 mph

Punch doesnt turn down power it simply delays the throttle signal

    Cheers

If you put a heatsink with a fan on the motor, it will reduce motor temps. I run mine 22/50 on 4s and I don't run it without the body. It stays warm without the fan. With the fan it stays cool.

22/50 mine would melt in 5 or 10 mins on 4s on a warm day.

16/54 even gets me to 175 after 15 or 20 mins of street running on 4s. I have a heavy trigger finger though!

I run 18/54 and i have to take a break about half way through the pack to let it cool... but i run 2.8 talons.

On my newer Ultimate, I run 19/54 with the body always on and not speed runs the motor just barely gets warm. I do have a heatsink with a fan. I have found that if my slipper is too tight my motor gets more warm than usual. To correct my earlier post, my first truck never gets run with the body on. I have the New Era roll bar on it and have no need to put a body on it. It wasn't even hot after I was done with the events.in this video.
