    Cool "newbe here"

Hey folks, I'm new to this forum and have been doing some reading and found many interesting threads. I've recently purchased a new Summit and just luv it!! Does everything and does it very well, very pleased with the performance so far. I do have a couple of questions, I know some time down the road the itch for more speed will nag me and I've been researching replacement motors. I really like the brush-less concept but can a brush-less motor be used with the stock ESC? I really don't want to lose my waterproof capabilities unless there is a waterproof ESC for the brush-less. If this can be done what motor would you recommend? I'm not looking for crazy speed just a little more after my original 775 gives up. I've toyed with the idea of the Dewalt but I'm on the fence and would prefer brush-less.

    Thanks,
    mdpuff.

The stock EVX-2 cannot run brushless motors. Most brushless systems available aren't waterproof, but they can waterproofed. Doing so will void any factory warranty though. I you search youtube on some how to videos on waterproofing various systems. If you are really looking to use a brushless system look for a sensored system because they great low speed control needed for crawling. The dewalt is a good upgrade, staying waterproof and providing more torque than the 775 not necassarily more speed but could be geared higher for more speed. I really suggest reading as much as you can there is a ton of info out there. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask most people here are very knowledgable helpful.

Thanks so much, I just like the idea of a little more power along with higher efficiency of the brush-less. Guess you can't have everything! I do like the water proof feature, wouldn't be any fun without splashing through the puddles! I did look at some Dewalt motors on Flee-bay and was wondering how one would go about's mounting the motor? The mounting screw holes are entirely different?
    Thanks again!

Have a read through the Summit FAQ at the top of this page. There are links in there for just about everything that you could think of, including mounting and prepping dewalts.

dual vxl is a bad idea just to ponit it out

as far as preping your dewalt you can get either a 12v or 14.4v dewalt already preped from kershaw all you have to do is bolt the motor to the mount and select you pinion

Look up kershaw designs and do the dual 700ho thing This will cost about $100 and can be used with the stock ESC.Also it is waterproof and will give you brushless-like power.. Brushless will not crawl unless it is sensored and then you are looking at the Tekin RX8, which is $400+. Another setup you could look at is the EZ-Run combo. And then there is always the Mamba Monster, which will drop right in, since the ERBE is based off of the same chassis.

I was bitten by the same speed bug, but I couldn't give up the crawling ability, so I went and bought an ERBE which got here last week.
