    2200kv motor with extreme esc?

Anyone try this combo yet or hear of anyone doing it? Or, since using the 2200kv motor 34p on an XO-1 does it not make a difference which one is used since they both have added cap packs? Only talking for 2 or 3 max runs for speed. Any opinions, input gladly accepted.

My Esc is the Newest version but it is not from traxxas. I ran mine with out any cap bank or anything. Running the extreme is no different then the normal MMM

I kinda agree with you in therory except your temps are saying different to the effect of melting soldered contacts. That 2200kv motor is asking for more amps/voltage to keep up the rpm's with that gearing. The cap bank is to ensure when there is a spike in voltage/amp draw they unload for demand rather than kicking the esc's butt. Thats cool you have a new version, wish i did. The one i have laying around is new too but not new like yours with the updated mosfet's. We are venturing into uncharted teritory here. Need all the help we can get. Don't want to cheat and use the extreme esc or roach a new mmm esc. So in the meantime lets weigh this sucker out.

    No different than running a v5 MMM.IIRC.

You will be asking a lot out of the system with that 34t on the 2200 on 6s. Does it shutters much on take off?(cog)

Apples to apples you'll need a.....
    (1600/2200)34=24.7 tooth pinion.

Right on BL-Bob! Thats what i needed to hear! Alright, have a 25 tooth already. YOLOer has video posted of 2200 4s 34p 89mph? that what hes been running. Have not run that setup yet. It's going in today, going to do some testing in the street, take temps. Shooting video tomorrow at a site that is about 4 square city blocks of concrete. Will be the only safe place to run this without knowing what to expect.

Sorry YOLOer, knew it was ith the 80's somewhere. BL-Bob's got a point, which is why we needed to ask. If you ran 6s with that 34p we'ed be roasting smores over your roller. LOL J/K. If i ran 6s on that 34 without asking anyone anything? Let's just say i would be upset with myself.

Gene I would run the 29t first and then the 34t. Once I get some 3s lipos I will run the 34t!

The rpms are too high for the 34. Thats a 60k rpm motor. You were in the 30 to 40k range on 4s @ 85mph. I gota test this thing in the street first on a 25p. If i hit 90 or above with it then the 29 is going to be the one that pushes it over 106 if i can hold it down. BL-Bob already did the math on the motors. we gota rock between 25 & 29 for now. Just have to test it for right now. Hopefully if this works i can keep ya from roaching your mamba setup if the 34 is not the magick #

2200 on 4s geared the same as 2200 on 6s on 24.7tooth is.....

    (25v/16.8v)24.7t=37tooth

but your getting deep into your (real) C rating and maxing out wire sizes and connections with too many amps and not enough volts. IMO.

Thanks BL-Bob! Yah, I've got the 23 and 25 from tekno. Point taken, won't be gearing that 29 now. I'll pick up a 26 and 27 but have to run the 25 for now. Pulled the 1600 and mounted the 2200 motor but had to leave for a bit. Should be back at the house in an hour or so. I'll get some gps run times in the street before the sun goes down.

BL-Bob, I've got some Hyperion 45c lipos. You think those would handle better than the traxxas lipos for this abnormal application?

Lol! Common sence is telling me that's not the best course of action here. Sorry buddy, I'm old school. Gotta ease into this here. Temps are a rule I roll by. Have sent enough esc's back to castle and Traxxas. That gets old after awhile if your not paying attention.

GPS FAIL! thing says i was going 20mph. URRRAAAAAA! I think the thing was quicker, got to figure out gps setting i guess. Any ideas? Temps were 138 motor, 115 esc. Extreme esc @ 7 on torque control!

After a few more runs this thing is much quicker with the 2200 in it (never thought i'd hear my self say that) with the 25 tooth that is. Was more controlable than i thought it would be. Just disapointed that gps couldn't back me up here. Maybe poor signal, don't know. Will try that bigger area tomorrow with both cars, ran out of sunlight.

Sorry guys no video. Had made it to 3 different parking lots at Cardinals stadium before i found one with no traffic. Which all in all i thought was an ok run but would not stay glued any faster. Parking lot was clean too.

Heres a shot of where i was running the 2 XO-1s. The one with the gps reading (2200kv motor 25p on 46 spur Mamba Extreme ESC Torque limit 7). This lot was twice the length of my street. This shot shows about 6/8 of overall length. Plenty of room to pull off some high speed runs.

Alright, im just sharing here. This is what i was able to pull off with the stock XO-1. "This is not a record breaker" This is only a record breaker for me. before this, only 97 on my street. And even with the 97, it took me months to get there. The car did stay on the ground and handled very well. This run leaves me with the question of...If the other one was not stable over 70 why is the sock one. This points me to the motor. Sorry guys my running the 2200 in this XO-1 is done. There are too many cons. Motor temps 160 and rising on 3 pulls. Stability with the high rpms of the motor are what i think caused it to loose controll. To squirly with spinning out over 70 or 80mph. YOLOer, i kindly hand the ball back. This one is all yours.

Im surprised about the results. I don't know how the motor would cause the car to be unstable. But I guess I will be the one to get to 6s. I guess I need to go but 3s lipos now....

Believe me, i was suprised too. At least when you get your 6s bats you'll see what im talking about even more so. Your torque limiting on your MMM is off, mine was at 7.0. If i was thinking i would have brought my laptop to bump it down some. It may have hung in a little more but not much. Im not the best RC racer in the world but am seasoned enough to know my limitations. If you can pull this off over 100 with that motor that would be crazy awesome!

Yah, i was running 6s. And i do firmly believe a 32p on 6s would cause that whole setup to go up in flames. Now if you lived in Antartica....nah,don't do it. Besides, BL-Bob already did the math.

Lol, fire extingusher. That's a great attribute YOLOer, determination! Great minds don't think alike. Hope you pull it off, without the extinguisher. How about during or before your test runs look into a water jacket for your 2200? Thinking about doing it for the stock one.
