Hey guys. New to the forum. Looks like a great place for info. Here's my question:
I bought a used Revo with a TRX 2.5 with a pull start ( was told it was a 3.3 ) I don't know the history of this engine, i.e. how much run time it's had. When I disconnect the fuel line from the carb and try to prime the engine by pulling on the cord while plugging the exhaust pipe with my finger, I get ZERO gas to flow through the line. However, If I remove the air filter and dribble a bit of gas into the carb, it starts right up and continues to mostly run.
Now it doesn't run fantastic, but not absolutely horrible either. But it seems to want to die if I give it any kind of sudden throttle beyond 1/2 or anything beyond 3/4, sudden or not. I have tried going both directions with the high end needle but it doesn't change this behavior. I've been running Traxxas fuel 33%
Is my compression shot? Is it time to trade up for the 3.3 which I really thought I was getting in the first place? Your opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
