[QUOTE=08kgraves;5164595]ill play to. not much now but it will be one day.

97 dodge neon 2.0L SOHC automatic sedan.

    how she started

front rotors..... yes they both looked like this. and no its not my fault lol

    DOHC hood installed

neglected timing belt snapped and bent all the valves. so i bought a whole nother neon for $400 and pulled the motor and dropt in mine. with a new timing belt i might add lol

shes officially called the christmas car lol. trunk lid is off a sport model with stock wing. both back doors are red, trunk is red, rear bumper is read, hood is red, and right fender is red lol

cluster from the other neon i bought and swapped over with the factory tac

MSD Ignition coil, NGK plugs, and bosch OEM plug wires. you can also see my strut tower brace in front as well.

i also have almost everything i need to install a cheap cold air intake system since the only company that made one burnt down lol. but it involves a certain k&n filter, a 3.0L dodge factory air intake tube and some exhaust pipe. since the factory intake is so restrictive and goes right over the exhaust to heat up the air even the cheap setup like im doing adds about 15hp. so it will be put on the rest of the way soon lol. might relocatie the battery to trunk to.

but eventually the car will be getting a 2.4L engine swap with a full build. debating on going na or turboing it though.[/QUOTE
    ]

It may not be the nicest car on here but it's better than my project haha. I like it
One thing I don't get though, you were going 45mph when you took the pic of the gauges?

For the record, since we are off of sporty cars
    Here's my little side project

It has the 305 5.0 liter V8, pushing approx. 200+ hp.
51k miles and the thing hauls.

Thanks man you're quite talented, if I tried to do that I'd wrap the car around something for sure
What kind of cold air intake system are you planning on using? I've been looking for something to increase this things power also. I don't know where to start though, what's my best bet?

Nice, b18?. I also moved my battery to the back too, and made my prelude a little bit fatter today by putting back interior in.

No, its the smaller version of B18. its 1.6L engine similar to the one you'll find on older prelude model '88/'89 outputting 130HP

They never released a prelude with a b16? Only B20 and B18, well for b series.

got my custom cold air intake installed in my neon today after work. i would say it easily added 10-15hp for the fact alone of how restrictive the stock air setup was.

brief description of stock........... air has to come into this oval hole that faced the driver side fender, turn 90 degrees into a wide flat box which goes to the back of the engine compartment and into the filter which is right above the exhaust manifold, then turn 180 degrees and come back forward to the front of the engine and curve 90 degrees down into the throttle body. absolutely horrible design on dodge's part i must say.

so now the new setup comes in from a hole in the front bumper (stock hole) through a k&n filter strait up with a slight angle, curve about 70 degrees with gentle bend, go strait over and then another gentle curve strait down and into the engine.

for those of you who dont know...... neons build all there power in the top end and rev out to like 7k stock. so after about 3k is when she really comes alive now! heres some pics for everyone. i didnt take one before i put it in sadly though

first air comes in through this but the sohc like mine is even worse design.......... but air comes in the lower right corner and exits the flat wide part in back

the air then goes into this filter box (right over the exhaust manifold which heats it up)

then finally back down this tube (far left of pic) from the back of engine to the front and down into the throttle body

and heres my custom 3.0 cold air intake. (aka 3.0 cai)

air comes in fresh through the bumper with nice cool clean air

up the tube from infront of the battery

then goes across a few inches and directly into the engine.

a true cold air intake, may not look like a million dollars but for a grand total of about $40 it is well worth it!

ZC engines are bigger version of D series. only difference is that ZC have dual cam, but its basically a D engine.

you have to remember i went to school for this, and that being said i am going to highly disagree with that statement for multiple reasons. you cant adjust the timing quickly between intake and exhaust valves, you have to replace the the cam. along with many many other factors. you take the same engine one single cam and one duel cam and the duel will always have more power. just saying.

this right here proves it also showing how a dohc engine can run in higher rpms as well

The first generation Neon was introduced in January 1994 and manufactured until August 1999. It was available as a four-door sedan and a two-door coupe. Available engines were SOHC and DOHC versions of Chrysler's 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine producing 132 hp (98 kW) at 6000 rpm and 129 lb·ft (175 N·m) at 5000 rpm or 150 hp (110 kW) at 6500 rpm and 133 lb·ft (180 N·m) at 5600 rpm

Oh that's cool, the Camaro's are preety cool as well. It's funny, I have done 3 Camaro resto-mods too, and I just don't like them as much. I don't like the driving stance of them, and they are harder to work on Imo. The mustangs are more practical too, have a big back seat and can seat 4 comfortably. The camaro's look preety awesome though. To be honest though I don't really miss them, untill I see a picture of one lol.

yeah me neither, my cusin has one he fixed up and modded it to his liking. think i still have the pic around here i'll have to check it out. never got to work on one yet or mustang, only pickups in the 60's and cadillac 68 w/ 472 block. not sure what the liter was like 8.1 or something it was huge putting out 395hp stock w/stock exhaust. it could almost bald tires. will have to post pic of that too, work in progress though family project kinda deal. will also have to find my 66's c10 pick up pics too.

Oh that's sweet, 395 stock hp that's great. A buddy of mine has an exact replica of the Coupe-de-ville that Tubbs drived in Miami Vice, that is a sweet car. Ultimate cruiser if you ask me. I havn't seen a 66 c-10, but I love the 55' ford f-100. I have been wanting to resto-mod one of those for the longest time. It's such a classic look,

Hey Mustang... see many Fairlanes? I have 2 '67s. One is a convertible and still needs restored and the other was done when I was in high school about 20 years ago and I drag raced it for years until I got into boats. It has a 510 in it and will run high tens in the quarter mile. Haven't had it out in close to 10 years though. I never see any around me.

    Very dramatic looking pictures
How much Hp did you have in the drag Fairlane?
It's funny, fairlanes are an old mustang owners best friend, they both share ALOT of parts between the two.
My Eleanor has an all modern Shelby v8, dynoed at 816 hp, so it's probobly about 880hp at the crank. My eleanor did a 10.9, I think I could go faster but I didn't want a major wreck, as It was my first time drag racing. Since I havn't tried it again. The car is a riot on the streets, I will be honest sometimes I really regret having that much hp under the hood. Because the Eleanor is so powerful, I drive my other Mustangs more. I have put the most miles on the gt 351 convertible, 2nd most on the gt500 convertible, and the least on the Eleanor.

What kind of boat do you have? I have a buddy who has the replica Miami Vice boat, he said he is on this forum but I havn't found him yet. I saw it in person back in 2009, don't know how the boat is now. Honestly knowing Mike he could probobly afford 10 of them, lol.

On the Fairlane will you do an original restore, or resto-mod? If you have any questions let me know, like I said earlier they are very similiar cars, the fairlane and the Mustang.

Never had it on the dyno but probably around 600-650. I'd think you could get a little more out of that Elanor.... somewhere in the mid to low nines. I have mine set up specifically for drag racing so it has slicks, a fuel cell, nitrous (sometimes), and I run aviation fuel (same octane as race fuel but WAY cheaper). The boat is a 24' Jaws. I doubt you've heard of one because they didn't make many but it's just a cigarette style boat. Here is a picture:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/6496893...in/photostream
It has probably close to 900 horsepower.
For the other Fairlane, if I ever get around to doing anything with it, it will probably be a little bit of a resto-mod. I want to make it into a nice cruiser with modern conveniences but still a mostly stock look. I love your Mustangs too!

Currently I have a 2002 Ford SVT Focus.
    2.0L with a 6 speed
105k and runs like a top

only mods are cold air intake and a short throw shifter other wise 100% factory and for sale in new Orleans Louisiana

Recently picked up this gem from my brother
    1993 Mustang LX 5.0 convertible
60k original miles plus a full resto
Motor is stock other then headers and no emission control garbage. C&L cold air tube (just for the looks) H pipe no cats, and dual chamber flowmasters. Getting a short throw shifter soon maybe a cam one day. It's also lowered about a inch on factory thunderbird super coupe springs. White top will be replaced with a black one along with the wheels which will be 93 cobra wheels once I can afford it

Hope you like them if you don't well that's your problem
    Thanks for looking

Yea that's what the guys at the track were telling me that day, my Eleanor could go low tens maybe high nines. I definately wasn't pusher her the hardest I could, I was short shifting, and gradually increasing throttle per shift. I wasn't power shifting either, even though I could. I found heel-toe more satisfying then power shifting sometimes lol. Personally the only thing I like about drag racing is the fact that you can see how your car can do in the quarter mile. Besides that, I really don't like it. I find track racing much more fun, and worth my time. The only reason I tried it was at the track that I race at (Infenion) they have a drag strip as well as a circuit, so I just said what the heck and I tried the drag racing.

I think on the Fairlane an original/resto-mod would be the way to go. Imo if you want to have a flashy old restore car, just get a Mustang or a camaro, they do much better with the agressive attitude. But, I have to agree that when I think of a 67 Fairlane, I think of a classic, old cruiser style of car.

Thanks, those are the only three that I have kept out of the 20 or so that I have bought for cheap, fixed up and sold. They really have a place in me compared to all the other one's I have fixed up. Right now I'm working on a preety beat up 67 coupe that I want to be a total sleeper/cruiser. All original if I can. Gotta remember, variety is the spice of life!

I wouldn't quite call it a performance car.....yet..... but we've got an 2012 Focus SE Hatch. It has the sport package and some other stuff. Also has painted rims that make it look real sharp. Not too slow either. 160hp and 148lbs-ft stock.

Will have pic up soon hopefully, but for now, heres what it looks like.

Just bought this little over a month ago

It's powered by Chrysler's new 3.6l V-6, which in this car puts out 283 Horse and 260 ft/lbs of torque and is backed by a 6-speed auto transaxle with and has the Autostick feature.

Supposedly these are good for mid-high 14's in the quarter while stock and right now the quickest near stock 200 (it has the Mopar CIA and Mopar/Corsa cat back, just no tune as of yet) has run a best pass of 14.38! They're kinda factory sleepers when equiped with that V-6

Took this pic a couple weeks back just with the eyebrows lit.

Since this thread is WAY of perfomance cars now, I think I'll throw in my..."car" in for fun! It'll really whip your head back as it acelerates all the way to 5 mph! Ps I do actully drive this around the block to get to my favorite rc car spots...You should see the look people give me when I'm riding down the street, on a riding lawnmower, and driving a rc car at the same time! LOL LOL!!!
This is the mower I mow lawns with in the summer time to earn rc car funds. To make a really long story short, this was a barn find. Way back in 2001, my dad was looking to get a riding mower to mow our 2+ acres of grass. He found this great deal at sears that if you buy two riding mowers the second mower is only 200 more than the 1500 for the cost of one. So my dad and my uncle both got a mower using that deal. The funny thing is, they are the exact same mowers model number and everything. My dad has used his mower every weekend since 2001 and it's still going. My uncle, on the other hand, brought his mower all of the way back to his house is Wyoming. He put it in his barn and covered it up with a tarp to use when his grass thawed out. Well, that day never came because he got divorced 2 months later. He got to keep the house, but he forgot about the mower in the barn so it sat in there (never used, not even once) for 8+ years. Then, last year when I was looking for a mower to start earning money for rc cars, my dad remembered the my uncle still had the twin of his. So a few phone calls later, the riding mower is mine for only $50! It never was even used or started! It still had the plastic on the seat! Any way, when I got it home It started right up with a little gas. Other than the front bumber, it's the same as my dads.

The gray mower Is the mower I got for free to use in my lawn busniess with my mower. As the pics show, it needs alot of work and parts.
This other green mower is my dad's one. It hasn't been used in quite some time due to the fact I've got mine and I mow the lawn with mine.
3 riding mowers is one garage! My friends think I'm nuts LOL
