I got my new Summit - Anyone wanna trade for a TQi radio?

Hello friendly forum folks! I am finally the proud owner of a Summit!!! (I've wanted one for 3 years now!)

Anyway, love the new body graphics, but really don't care for the TQi radio design - I prefer the more classic look and feel of the TQ Link radios.

So, here's the deal: I'd like to trade someone my brand new 4-chan TQi for the HO 4-chan TQ Link radio. I'd be willing to include a trade on the receivers too, since it only makes sense to have the TQi rx, too.

As it would be a trade for a newer, more capable(telemetry) system for an older, used system, I'd prefer it if the trade included some other small item of interest to even out the value: something like a light-bar for the top, or a backup steering servo/shifting servo, something like that.

Let me know if someone is interested in a trade, and also if this thread really belongs in the Marketplace (sorry, if so!)

I have a TQ link 2.4 for the Revo 3.3. Its a 3 channel setup but if I am not mistaken, I can add the 4th channel switch for you. That radio should support the programming you are looking for

Just realized my PM box was full, so if you tried to send me a PM, it should work now (cleared out some messages).

Just so it's clear on what I'm offering: It's the 4-chan TQi (and Rx) that comes stock with summit, which means, no docking base, and no telemtry sensors (just that it's compatible with them.)

(And I'd prefer a stock 4-channel TQ link HO transmitter - not a converted lower channel radio...)

Ige_Santos, is yours the HO radio (black chrome wheel, says TQ Link on top, "High output 2.4ghz" on battery compartment)?

Here's a pic of the Tx, still with factory sticker. (The Rx is still in the rx box, but is the typical TQi rx - there's only one kind, that I'm aware of.)

Ige_santos - that's the non-HO version. Sorry, but not what I'm looking for.

ho = high output. It has a stronger signal/greater distance, and has LINK software built in.

I am not sure there ever was a high output 4/5 channel LINK radio.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

Yes there is Jimmie. I got the standard 4 CH radio with my summit last year. I ended up buying the HO 4CH version from tower because the range was terrible on the stock one. I don't think any of the summits have ever been released with the high output version so the only way Joly is going to get one is by trading with someone who has bought one seperate. Sorry mate not willing to trade mine

Sweet! Learn something new every day...

The new 4 Channel TQi and the Old 4 Channel TQ's are going for same price on eBay.

    Yeah I noticed that...
A range test between the two would be very interesting. Probably wouldn't matter to most people but I drive my summit FPV.

Hmmm, that's interesting, Edstoys; I thought that all TQi radios were basically High Output - as there is not separate model number for low vs. high power, the way there is with the standard TQ LINK radios. I'd be interested to hear whether the LINK HO radio does indeed give you better range.

Joly; might just be my radio system on my new Summit w/TQi (not even a wk old), but lose signal when less than 100 yrd and still can see truck. Traxxas Customer service suggested running the antenna threw the roof of the truck which I did and made no difference. One thing he told me that made me order the older radio system was that 150 yrd. was average. My other trucks can lose sight of them, not know which direction or speed am going and still have signal. Our drive way is about 250 yrd. from the house my Slash or Ped no signal lose out to the street, with the summit it does not make it 1/4 of the way.
Might just be something wrong with my system but sense I am not interested in the sensors why the order for the older radio. Even tried to find the older summit before ordering mine but could not find one on any of the web pages I deal with.

I'll have to range test the TQi against my 2-chan HO Link radio in the rustler and see if I notice a difference.

P.S. Since it's apparently the same overall price for the old TQ vs. TQi, I'm willing to trade straight across (Tx & Rx), as long as it's the TQ LINK/HO radio - in case anyone is interested...

That kind of limited range is not normal.
However, there are certain areas that I cannot get 200' with ANY of my radios. One happens to be a local ballfield. Go figure.

Well, I've decided to just sell the TQi on the bay, so I'll post up a thread in the Marketplace...

Might have to look into altering it back to the old radio and am not all that interested in all the telemetry that is available on the TQi.
I'm not sure what was misunderstood on your call. We use the TQi in the XO-1 100 MPH Super Car so 100 to 150 yards is obviously an impossible answer. Range with the TQi is about 1/4 mile, 400 yards or 1600 feet, give or take, depending on conditions, batteries etc... If [150 yards] is what you are getting you will need to send the transmitter in for inspection.
