what parts are going to break on my rustler?

What parts usually break on the rustler?
    Im guessing
rear shock tower, castor blocks, front a arms, shock caps
I am only new to this and I have broken nothing yet

Just replace what breaks with rpm, except castor blocks. For those you want aluminum.

I just started a couple months ago and I somehow managed to break the gear box, that was a pain to replace. You also want to watch the bearing carriers they break easily too, make sure to replace with rpm like "rag6" said.

Well as said rpm a arms all four corners, wheelie bar I like, upgrade The castor blocks, Stub axles, Steering bellCrank, aluminum shock caps if you stick with stock ..... The list goes on and on lol comes down to how much money you would like to spend I guess. But as said above I do things as they brake myself too. I would at least start out with rpms on all four corners IMO to start.

    From rpm:
    Ft and R arms
    ft and rear bearing carriers
    Ft and rear shock towers
    Stampede wide ft bumper

    From traxxas
    aluminum ft c blocks-must have
(4)4x8x2.5 bearings for the bell crank-Must have
(8)5x11x4 bearings for the wheels if this truck is the xl5 version.-Must have
    4x4 bell crank setup

    From strc
    Alum ft bulkhead

    From kimborough
#124 servo saver (only if you are staying with the stock bell crank)- must have

Now not all of these parts are gonna break. All of them can break. Some may never break.

I marked my must have parts for these trucks.

Id go slightly different to rag:

    RPM:
Bigger bumper - i run the slash front bumper

    Traxxas OR STRC:
    aluminum castors
Aluminum carriers (huge debate constantly on RPM vs alum here. My preferences lye with alum - its just stronger and lasts longer and includes bearings in the cost)
Bell crank, i have just gone STRC. If UK customs will let me have it!!
Shock caps (alum) or big bores

    STRC:
    Bulkhead
Their hinge pin set (SPTST3640bk) this is a replacement set for all the hinge pins that constantly back themselves out!!

    Proline:
Protrac kit - much stronger parts than stock, replaces both shock towers as well. Also widens the truck (4 front offset wheels are needed to keep it all square). This improves handling and gives you loads of tuning options for shock placement and link placement

    Traxxas:
(this is only if you go for the protrac kit) the slayer link rods (cant remember the part number at the moment) the dreadedend came up with this in the p2de section amd is a huge upgrade to either stock or protrac links.

So basically you have a few options as to what route you want to go, maore aluminum or more RPM parts. I like RPM but they fall down in a few places for me personally - if i catch a front wheel than plastic in the knuckle at any point will shatter, the alum doesnt even flinch. And because the 'weak' point is now the a-arm the truck can handle a harder hit at that point because the assembly from the bulkhead to the wheel is now all upgraded stronger parts.

I have 3 sets of rpm carriers that are at least 3 yrs old. They still work as good as new. never have broken one, and since I have had alum c-blocks have not bent a king pin. Maybe they dont make the rpm plastic like they used to if they are shattering all the time...

    Depends on where/how you drive.

For the record (And I've sometimes been accused of driving like a maniac -hence my screen handle :-)- here's what I've busted/worn out in descending order from most to least:

    Front bearing carriers
    Caster blocks
    Turnbuckles -both front and rear
    Stub axles
    Pins -for caster blocks
    A arms
Gearboxes (I'm on #3 right now)
    Slipper shaft
    Traxxas wheelie bars
    Bodies

I use RPM parts whenever possible, and although they're tough, they're NOT unbreakable!!

...as well as tires, small screws, and other little things. As you can imagine, I ride the Rusty HARD.

Heh... It probably would have been easier to name things that I HAVEN'T broken!

i have only had my rusty for about 3 months but i have already broken my rear shock tower and the other suggestion is to have extra shock rebuild kits on hand, i have lost the spring retainer on the bottom a couple of times.
