    XL-5 waterproof ESC

    Hi all,

First time post on here and I have a question about the XL-5 Waterproof ESC, not really related to the rustler (which I do own) but not sure where to post this.

Anyway, I bought a new one today (mail order), opened the package and noticed that at the front of unit near the on-button it isn't compltly sealed. The back of the unit is really tight but it's almost like there is somthing inside stopping the two halfs meeting at the front, the gap is only 1-2mm, Just worried about whether it will still be waterproof or whether I should get some electrical tape and seal it tight. what do you guys think am I just being silly? the hole where the reciever wire comes out looks like it would let water in anyway!

If it the blue one, its waterproof or better said water resistance is more like it. You could put tape over it if it makes you feel a little better.

I believe the circuit board inside is also coated with a sealer.

It would make sense that the inside is coated in the same sealer you can see where the motor wires come out.

Also getting parts in the UK is pretty difficult and the store only had one, so I think I will tape it up. took me 4 1/2 months to get my traxxas lipo and anaconda slicks for my rustler, wish I was back in the US.

wow that stinks it takes you so long to get anything as far as parts. I give you credit if it took me this long to get parts I don't think I would be into the hobby at all!

Maybe your seal for the two halves aren't sitting right. I would take the front part apart (not all the way, just to sit the seal), then screw it all back together.

    P.S. 500th post!

Well, after much deliberation I eventually just installed the ESC, it was going in my DB-01 anyway which doesn't go out in the rain, also I had to remove one the screw holes that stick out to get it to fit, so I guess I can't really return it now anyway.
