    Question help race tuning suspension

at my local track there usually isn't enough monster trucks for a full class, so they usually stick me in with the E truggys. so I definitely need some advice on how to race tune this thing a little better so I can at least have somewhat of a fighting chance.
    my set up as is:
-blue springs in the rear, silver in front
    -stock weight oil
-all camber, toe, caster, etc. settings all stock

    I was going to try:
    -same springs
    -50 or 60 weight oil
    -VDP kit #2 pistons
    -swaybar kit (possibly)
    -Steve slayden's race settings

track conditions are generally a little rough, and there are some pretty beefy jumps. any advice from you e revo racers would be awesome, thank you!

I race with the e-truggys....its really hard to compete with the top truggys. I have been doing this for a while now and here is my set up, camber neg 2.0-2.5, toe in rear 3.0, toe out front 1.0, all caster clips foward and dremel the top arms to allow 5th clip, batterys all the way forward (cut the battery pad down for more weight forward), single servo with upgraded spring and alum. arm (slayden steering mod for more steering throw plus the optional steering stop installed), 1/2 offset hubs with truggy rims/tires, center diff, 30k front diff, 10k rear diff, traxxas sway bars, p2 rockers, relocate the reciever to the extra servo area and use this place for your transponder as well. Extended arms are a good thing to get; however I am using rpm arms for durability reasons currently on the rear. Buy a range of springs and shock oil to dial it in on the track. use your sway bars and roll center to help set it up for your driving style. Change your diff weight to your liking as well. The main thing I noticed driving truggys= they are very forgiving. Softer springs helped me a lot, making my e-revo more forgiving to drive. I run green rear and orange front. Copy slaydens setup as you mentioned and you will be pretty close.

great info guys, thank you. that rear brace mod is a great idea, since the rear of these things take a lot of abuse. I think I am going to try pretty much your exact setup SVTpower. I've got all the caster, toe, camber settings tuned up. now I just need some new shocks and oils. definitely going to pick up green, orange, and gold. they seem to be very popular.what oil are you using with your shock combo though? will thicker shock oil help me not bottom out as much?

Yes thicker helps a lot with preventing bottoming out. I use number 3 piston rear and 80 weight losi oil for tracks with a lot of jumps. Front, 60 weight with number 2 pistion.

Tracks with smaller jumps, I run 40-60 weight rear and 40 to 50 weight front.

Keep in mind shock oil varies a bit among many. I run heavier batteries sometimes too.

awesome, that helps me a lot! I'm gonna start off with 50 and 60 wieght oils and see if there is a need to go up from there. my setup is probably a bit more front heavy than most, so I might do the same oil in front and rear. thanks again for the help!

so I did the front shocks last night. I put the #2 dampers on and 60wt oil in. my LHS didn't have the springs I was looking for, so I'm going to have to stick with my silver/blue for now. I did run into one weird problem though. one of the #2 dampers was way to tight in the shock. so just used one of the other ones and it worked fine. but I was going to try #2 in the rear as well, but now I'm worried that one is going to be to tight in the rear shock. anyone experience something like this before?
