    Racing

I have always wondered if there was a specific class for the stock VXL 2wd. If not, I wouldn't stand a chance in open class. How can I get it prepared for light racing, and casual bashing without changing any parts?

I think the super stock class may be what your looking for. Also make sure you do not have any homemade chassis modifications. That's what did it in for me, but my 4x4 is going to be my race truck. My stock 2wd went around a track very nicely, but you won't be able to keep up without a 3s Lipo. And if you start breaking parts replace them with hopups and then you can move to the 2wd short course class

What classes are available at your track?

I would say get an xl5 and titan for a slash spec class, and switch the motor and esc in and out as needed.

I see what you mean rag6, but by the time I buy a ESC and motor it will be the cost of a new truck almost.

You can find used xl5 esc's for $20, and new titans for $20-25?

I know, I don't think I would want to do that. I'll have to see what the track offers, if I have enough confidence I can win open class races.

i think there is a class for it. since 2wd 1/10 scale buggies are getting popular.
All I need now is to set a new lap record.

A stock vxl is going to have issues running against vehicles like a kyosho or a sc10 with a timing boost setups like lrp and Tekin. Their setups can give the motor close to 100° of timing.
Powered by Tekin. Go Tekin or go home.

I found my local track using that. About 5/10 of the sites were out of date, just took some diligence.

It will totally be up to the track.
