    Second gear issues.

    Hey guys,

So Im still tuning my revo with the OS.21TM and its getting there...now a new problem arises. It wont shift into second gear. Before I dropped in the new engine it shifted fine.

I tore the transmissin down last night and everything looked good inside. Took the hex screw out and the spring and ball were there. Put it all back together and still nothing...now the weird part, every now and then right when i take off it will hit second gear right from the get go. But only once and a while.

    Need some thoughts guys.

    thanks
    Ken.

Give the second gear pawl a little squirt of WD-40 through the adjustment hole, just a tst! and try it again. Had second gear issues on both my Tmaxx & Revo. WD fixed both, just sticky pawls. If that works you'll have to adjust second gear to the shift point you like.

I find that my truck does not grab second till things warm up a little and like the little sticker say's "No Oil" I try to stick with that.

If WD fixes your immediate problem then that's all good but who can say for sure down the road and like motorhead said it most likely has to do with the adjustment screw.

well buy a new shift clutch. There would be 99% chance that would fix things. I just buy new shift clutches when I have a problem that his beyond adjustment.

Now that I can agree with since I have experienced the same thing when I had a 14/40 setup with a close ratio and smallish tires.

Shifted in the first 10 ft.

thanks for the replies guys, to answer the one guy, the engine was reved out, it wouldint catch second as i had no top end. I adjusted the set screw almost all the way out and second started grabing right off of idle. So I figured I was on my way to getting it set, then i handed my controler to a friend to let him finish the tank...he shifted from forward to reverse and blew the primary foward gear into pieces...so now i have the tranny apart...again but now im cleaning up broken teeth and black plastic poweder.

I think ill order a new clutch pack while its apart...but now im thinking, is it a good time to upgrade to an all metal tranny??
this hobby is adicting...and starting to cost.

    200 for a used Revo
    270 for an OS.21
100.00 for RPM aftermarket suspension goodies and other bits and pieces
    Tranny parts $$$??
    LOL

Better part of 80-100 for Robinson tranny gears. Highly recommended upgrade but. Everyone will moan about extra weight in the box etc but seriously, the extra few grams of weight is worth it for a virtually indestructible gears.

Make sure since you unscrewed that set screw out that it didn't get stuck or jammed on the inside of the gear the shifter clutch sits in.
